I personally disagree. The fact that I'm doing this particular jumpstart doesn't reflect anything about whether or not they will keep it, in the end.

I have no idea! I don't think they would actually have a problem with one translator doing 2+ series, but even if I did know for sure either way...I don't think I could reveal that information.

I'm not sure if they're getting different files than me. They probably use a file format compatible with some special manga editing program, no? To make it easier to fill bubbles with text, replace SFX, curve and warp text, etc. At the very least I know there are "layers" in the files, because the text in the pdf is highlight-able (and copy-pastable), so it's not just a simple image. Replacing text would be a real drag otherwise (aka what scanlators do). The scans I get do seem pretty damn high-def. I can zoom in a lot without loss of clarity. As for volume size, I don't get electronic scans of the volumes; I work with the physical books.

Honestly, I have no idea how one even checks technical specs like that, concerning the official weekly raws. The pdf just says 6.93 by 10.12 inches for each page. If you tell me how, though, I'd be happy to check. Also, is it possible that they somehow resize when going from raw to online reader?

You actually seem to know way more about this than me! All of that behind-the-scenes stuff is done independently of my work. That said, I always thought the blue tint was something like a watermark. Or maybe it's just to make black dialogue pop out better when all that initial editing is going on? No clue about the cropping.

That's just how they do it! John handles weekly chapters and Michael does the volumes. Not sure why haha. But once we're past chapter 28, the only real, new volume work will be the omake/extras/interstitials.

You're welcome. I'm not familiar with the online shops that handle ONE PIECE related stuffs, but I've heard from someone (probably redon ) that CD Japan is a good website. Also, it seems Amazon jp can send items to overseas. About Jump Ryu magazine, Shueisha has recently decided to sell it in all areas in Japan next year, so perhaps CD Japan will sell it sooner or later.

No, they are entirely different videos. I really want the one in Jump Festa last year somehow...
