Well, Funimation's having this weird little five day announcement thing going on. For the past two days they've announced new licenses they have.

Maybe One Piece will be one of the announcements?

I just got my copy of the February issue of Newtype and while looking at it my heart stopped when I saw this title "Pirate King's Last Stand"

Well at least now we have a public announcement.
I wish we could flood everyone with our opinions about One Piece, the dub, and how we want it to continue...without 4kids somehow.
Since 4kids isn't actively dubbing it, maybe now the magazines won't be kowtowing to their advertisment of it by responding with supportive bull and actually give it some criticism.

Oh, and about the decrease in profit...I wonder how much One Piece really played a part in that.

Damn straight. If there's even a chance an announcement is made, it's way too soon for any company to make it. At least FUNi reps will know there's a demand out there, 'cause two of them are always popping up at popular anime mesage boards. And the announcements are over, but it was either Blue or Red FUNIrep that said on the AnimeOnDVD forums there would be more news. But that could mean anything .

Toei didn't take the rights away, 4Kids just stoppped production. However, Toei controls "One Piece", so that's what I think Roz meant when she said to talk to them. By the way, did anyhting in your conversation weeks ago reveal whether Toei Animation could and wants to work with another company on "One Piece" and if they could simply take the rights away from 4Kids before 2009?

I believe Synch-Point are the folks behind FLCL's release in the US. Prehaps they are in talks with Toei about a certain series...

I won't get into why, but I don't think it has anything to do with "One Piece". Unless Azuma-san was involved with "One Piece" and that could be a hint. Yeah, I remember that day, it was hailing for a few minutes outside the pet supply store I work at, but it looked like snow.

By the way, who's Azuma-san?

I wasn't able to really find anybody on ANN named Azuma that had any involvement with One Piece, unfortunately.

Well, we can hope it's One Piece, although I have a sneaking suspicion it's about Kamen Rider.

Kamen Rider was being represented at NAPTE by Cloverway. So I don't think that was what the meeting was about. I also don't expect it was about One Piece but that sure would be interesting.

Well, I just got off the phone with someone at Toei Animation U.S.A. to inquire about why so much "One Piece" stuff is being taken off the 4Kids websites. He told me they're looking into it. I was about to ask him some more, but as I was trying to think of the right words and they slowly started to come out of my mouth he hung up. So all we can do for now is still speculate. Oh well, unless someone else calls 4Kids (Quexinos mentioned it) I might just do it myself.

They're prolly just getting ready, since either way, they're not keeping the license. If they've started this early, maybe Toei took away the rights? Or they're overreacting 2 years early...
