lol i think more likely they'll be in like some kind of obstacle course...kind of like wat Zkaiser said....Van Auger can see much farther and shoot more lethally but he only has bullets....while Usopp has all his tricks and so on....i have a image of usopp using an impact dial or something...
The sentence after this is true. The previous sentence is a lie.

I actually think it would be sort of cool if in the end Usopp somehow got Yasopp's gun. That would be pretty cool.

Don't know if this was already discussed, but if you look at Shanks, he had that scar since the beginning of One Piece, before Ace started looking for him, before BB obtain that Devil Fruit, so this all hints to that Blackbeard was strong as hell wayyyyyyyy before present time now, because Shanks had that scar when he 1st meet Luffy, so what I getting at, is that Blackbeard must be as strong as the Youkno (forgot how to spell it)!

I agree. Shanks had his scar from Blackbeard even since Luffy's flashback. Now he's basically unstoppable, with both the strongest magic power and the strongest physical strength.

^^Yeah, agree, so Blackbeard really is no joke at all, I think he's only using this Shichibukai thing just to do dirty work under the WG noses, to get closer to One Piece!

Well the question we really ask ourselves here is, how strong was shanks back then when he lost his arm...? In comparison to now and was he a Yonkou?

Well, he had to be pretty damn strong, because when the Sea King ripped his arm off, either Shanks used Arua, and the Sea King fled, or the Sea King notice who he was and fled, either way, that shows that he was really strong then!

But either way, I can't wait to see BB go all the way out with his power, bet what he used against Ace was nothing!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the mysterious axe guy who appeared early in the Shabondy arc could be a new member of Blackbeard's, kinda like how Lafitte went ahead to speak for Blackbeard at the world leaders meeting, and this guy could just be doing whatever.

Darkaos You know Kizaru was at the marine HQ with Sengoku right? The big axe guy is most likely NOT Kizaru.

The easiest assumption is that Shanks was already a yonkou or very close. WB states how surprised everyone was to hear that Shanks had lost one of his arms. This means when Shanks was in Luffy's village, he had already made a name for himself. A name strong enough to be acknowledged by WB himself.

I'm not sure that's true. Given that he was i the village for a year without being hunted down by a shichibuiki or a marine. I believe he made him name after losing his arm. Though he was a fond memory of WB even before then.

What about Mihawk? We know that he was of very high standing, and likely the best swordsman then as well. Yet Mihawk refused to duel with Shanks after he lost his arm ~~ so this also adds to the proof that he must have already been of somewhat high standing. Right?

Mihawk and Shanks are friends. It'd be like Zoro asking Sanji for a duel. Thought the fact his sword can stand up to Mihawks only goes to underline why he's a Yonkou.

If Mihawk and Shanks were friends like Sanji and Zoro, then why would Whitebeard speak of their legendary duels. This doesn't make sense. Zoro and Sanji do duel, and Oda likes to show them of equal competence. However, they're on the same crew and will never have a serious fight.

Shanks and Mihawk were regarded as rivals, and probably eventually gained great respect for each other. Probably to the point that they are now "friends", but these are very different circumstances.

But, back to the point. Here's where you need to interpolate. If Shanks made a name for himself after returning with the missing arm, then the missing arm is not a big deal. There's no reason for Whitebeard (the strongest man in the world) to talk about the surprise of hearing that someone of Shanks' caliber has lost an arm while away in East Blue (the weakest sea). However, Whitebeard makes this a point, because it's so surprising. And it's not only WB, it seems like there were plenty of people that were surprised at the loss.

I just thought of a second point. Rockstar, obviously a competant Rookie, bounty of 94M. WB didn't even want to talk to this guy, and he thought he was popular enough to be recognized by WB's crew. Yet, no one knew who he was. it's only logical to assume that Shanks is already famous while he's in East Blue.

    Sorry for the massive off-topic.

I think the problem is, is that the Mugiwara have no real rivals out there yet, however once you look at what this arc has set up, they will have rivals with equal goals in the new world. The Zoro/Sanji comparison was a poor one but it was the closest we've got. Once we get into the new world, should the Mugiwara end up going against one of the Supernova's a couple times for whatever reason but still get along, then there we'd have a better comparison.

In regards to Shanks' missing arm. It's like if we suddenly heard Sanji lost a leg for whatever reason. We all know of his calibre, we know he was destined to be at the pirates summit so him losing a leg now, would still be a subject for discussion ten years down the line.

I think using your Rockstar comparison, we can see the sheer difference. WB and Roger were at the top of the pirate world and i can only assume that the crews were smaller back then (i.e. not 1600), the fact that WB and Roger constantly clashed meant that everyone would know everyone reasonably well. strengths, weaknesses and names.

Ofcourse Whitebeard knew him. He got to know him while battleing GDR.
Hell Whitebeard even remembers Buggy... and Buggy is (was) a nobody compared to the grand line pirates whne we saw him back in east blue.

We don't really know why he was surprised about Shanks losing the arm. It could be because he never expected someone of such strenght losing it in that weak sea OR it could be that he is surprised Shanks continues to be a pirate even with only one arm. Zeff pretty much gave up pirating when he lost his leg right? (or did he give it up for another reason? I can't remember..)

    This page should answer that.

As for Shanks. On this page and this page Whitebeard is talking about how the 'old days' were legendary and that time passed so fast, and even Shanks' duel with Mihawk is new to his ears. (the way he brings it up makes me believe that this was part of the older news from that legendary time ~~ since why bring it up like that unless it were old news?) And then he says everyone was so surprised when you came back without the arm ~~ then asking what kind of enemy he gave it to (suggesting they were a formidable opponent if even Mihawk could not take it). Just what I see in all of this though.......
