Thread: So I have a Driving Test tomorrow....

Here in the UK, it is perfectly normal, and expected to edge out into the intersection. I did that exact same thing in my test (obviously i was turning right due to us driving on the different side of the road).

But yea, anyone who would get mad at you for inching out is a complete idiot

You had to learn how to parallel park?
God, that wasn't on my driving test. It probably should've been.
    ...Ah, well. XD

Here, the driving test instructor chooses two out of six possible manouvers to give you on the test. Could be either "bay park" and "reverse around a corner" or "hill start" and "3 point turn". Usually, in a test, you'll never do both bay park and parallel parking.

Of course, the test instructor starts off by asking you questions on the engine. After that, the most important thing is to not get nervous and make a dick of yourself. Manouvers aren't as important as other aspects of driving, such as approaching a junction or roundabout. That's where they'll fail you.

Driving in the US is different to the UK, in some ways.

prevents mechanics from scamming you when you need to get it repaired?

makes it possible to identify faults and possibly correct the smaller ones when your engine havocs?

What? You imply as if some random guy will stop you in the street and ask.

"Hey what type of engine do you have? Whats the model, etc,"

    Who the fuck cares?

The only thing you have to know about the engine is that it makes your car run. There thats it. Everything else is pretty much "extra knowledge". You misinterprited my context.

Iceman: If you plan on giving me a "facepalm" give me a good one. Therefore, I reply your "facepalm" with an even better one:

    Thats much better.

Just make sure to pay attention, dont be nervous. I think that is what made me hurt the most. Be calm.

If it was like my test, they might not ask you to parallel park. Just go from the street to a curb (make sure you dont hit it, automatic fail), and then reverse in a straight line.

I thought you had to know about jumper cables... helps knowing how to connect them to the battery propely so you dont cause an accident... (or burn a hole in the engine like i did with my dads car when he made me use the cables)

knowing where the cooling fluent goes is a good idea too if your car is overheating.

etc etc... its baisicly for when some problems arise with the eingine and you have to fix stuff that its good to know about the engine.

Driving tests are easy. Man, that shit was so long ago - about 5 years or so.

You should'a punched your instructor in the face, since just about everybody creeps into the intersection like that.

Does the instructor help you out at all, or do they just sit back and expect you to know everything, I'm mainly talking about parking, because a lot of people forget how to do that shit.

Thats what I thought. Apparently, my instructor was a little pussy. What a Dumbfuck instructor, the more I think about it, the angrier I get.

I know driving test are easy. If the blondes around my area, who have the IQ of a peanut can get a license, I sure as hell can. My luck was getting a dumbshit instructor who was on his warpath. Fucking hell. He has got to be one of the biggest douchecocks I have ever seen.

No, the instructors dont help you in the lease. Unless your is like mine, who helped at the wrong time and who was texting 60% of the test. Other than that, if you ask them something they will give you dirty looks and mark you off for it.

Of course I am talking about my most recent exp. so your exp. might be different.

Hm, and I felt bad about failing twice...

I didn't know you could fail for screwing up parking. The times I failed were for not stopping when making a right turn on a red light and not stopping to let someone across the crosswalk. I mean, when I did my test, I was half in the road for my parallel parking and for my back-in stall parking I was across two spaces, at an angle, with one wheel on the curb, no joke. And I passed. The instructor just told me I should only be allowed to park at malls >_>

So knowing how to regularly check the oil pressure and level doesn't matter? These are things you have to do, and the test instructor knows that, so they usually asks a few questions on the engine before the test starts. Why does it matter? Because they obviously use it in the tests, that's why, and I think they know what they're doing. How to look for leaks? Cooling system (check for overflow and adding water to coolant, which needs to be managed regularly), timing belt etc, it all matters.
