Add Chamillionaire to Southern Rap too, the guy is quickly becoming one of the South's best and most versatile rappers. UGK as well and I hear Little Brother is pretty good too, but I've never heard any of their stuff.

And what is Acid Rap? This is the first I've ever heard of it.

I don't see Lupe or Kanye, two of the best rappers out there. Especially Lupe, The Cool is the best album I've heard in awhile, probably since Eminem's last album.

No Lil Wayne? Young Jeezy? Juelz Santana?

A lot of the "get money" rappers aren't that bad. Lil Wayne's actually pretty good. And I like Jeezy's flow, I still listen to "Go Crazy" all the time

^ Lupe is probably my favorite rapper to date. His style of writing and beats are completely my kind of music. He is one of the most diverse artists out there. As for Kanye, he's great too, but his cockiness gets the best of him way too much.Currently my top fav Mcs/rappers are....

    1) Lupe Fiasco
    2) Kanye West
    3) Jay-Z
    4) The Cool Kids
    5)Common

    CHYEEEEEEEEA!!!

Parody topics like these take too much effort.

and I liked The Cool as well. Lupe and Common are probably the only mainstream rappers i like nowadays(if you can call them Mainstream)

I also do not get why lil wayne suddenly jumped to contender for "best rapper ever" when he was really just a hype man a few years back.

O...Well...My favorite hip hop artist (and overall artist) is probably Talib Kwali...

    (Mos Def comes close)

I use to like Gangsta' Rap, but nowadays with 50 fucking Cent and Soulja Boy, I feel ashamed of even liking it in the 90's (Tupac, Nas, etc.).

Wayne was never a hype man. He's been rapping since he was about 14 and has many albums with about a bajillion mixtapes.

As for how he gained his status, the same way Jay Z did, by himself out there as the best. Soon, people started believing he was the greatest rapper ever. Neither of the the two are the greatest, but they know how to sell themselves.

I listen to very little hip hop, as I guess I don't find most of what I've heard particularly enjoyable to listen to, and am too entrenched in listening to older rock bands to find good hip hop artists. Outkast however, are incredibly awesome. I especially like Aquemini and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, as both of them have a really funky style that I really like. Love Hater, Prototype, and Rosa Parks are prolly my favorite songs from those albums.

K-os is also a hell of a good artist.

I can credit K-os for breaking me out of the phase of "ALL MY MUSIC IS GAME SOUNDTRCaKS AnD ANIMES" back in mid-high school.

    Bless his canadian heart.
