Thread: Hip Hop Thread

I'm not saying Lil Wayne is the greatest, but he's not terrible because he raps about money, and drugs and such. I don't know about these rappers lives, but some of them have actually gone through this stuff.

One rapper I'll never like is Rick Ross. He's a terrible rapper, and isn't even from Miami.

For my list I gotta go with

    1) Lupe
    2) Twista (another "money" rapper but I like his flow)
    3) Jay-Z, I never really like this guys singles, but a lot of his songs are really good.
    4) Kanye
    5) Lil Wayne.

Young Jeezy really isn't that bad either. Sometimes people need to stop caring about what they're saying and listen to the music. I listen to rap for the "flow" and the beat. I could careless about diamonds, bitches and weed.

Big deal it's not like he's the only rapper who reps a state or city that he's not originally from.

As for how he gained his status, the same way Jay Z did, by himself out there as the best. Soon, people started believing he was the greatest rapper ever. Neither of the the two are the greatest, but they know how to sell themselves.
I remember seeing him in alot of Juvenile and other vids with the same "Drop Drop it like it's hot" one liner for the longest time. I knew he rapped, but it's kind of gay that so many people jump on his nuts now when no one gave a shit about him 2-3 years ago.

and I'm waiting for Outkast to make another "real" album. The movie soundtrack was lame as fuck.

    Common
    Lupe
    De La Soul
    Atmosphere
    Nas
Wu Tang(Method Man has always been my hero for some reason)
The Roots(although I think they are a bit too mello for my tastes now)

and maybe Nas ans Outkast come to mind as personal favorites.

Alot of other dudes I like a few select songs from, but I'm embarrassed to list.

Don't really immerse myself in Hip Hop, but here are a bunch of the folks I enjoy

    Wu Tang Clan
Ol Dirty Bastard (I loved his solo stuff)
    Snoop Dogg
    Deltron 3030
    Outkast
Busta Rhymes (well, when he was a hyperactive)

    Fun stuff it is.

Kanye and Lupe are the two rappers I really listen to nowadays. Kanye would be perfect if he wasn't so damn arrogant and flamboyant, but he delivers good music so I guess it balances itself out.

    I was for a long time a 2pac-unconditional.
Nowadays there isn't alot of decent hiphop to listen to.
But I will try that Lupe guy (never heard of him) and tell you what I think of him.
I also listen to french rap: best album ever ="L'ecole du micro d'argent" by 'IAM'

Is that all it takes? I don't think any rapper can make me ashamed of being black.

ahhh I remember my hip-hop/rap days, lets see, i was obsessed with Kanye, Outkast, snoop dogg, Pharril (sp?) is awsome as a producer, Nelly, Chingy, the guys that sang "hate it or love it" very few Ludacris. I'm sure there's more, but then I changed my music preference to Rock. And Right now, I realize I listen to Spanish music more and more.
