I agree, those arcs are great, but 186 is the start of the other world arc, and where the fanservice and harem elements have pretty much died out. Which, given the specific concerns made....

Still haven't read Negima. Of couse I still haven't read HunterXHunter, Berserk, or Hokuto no Ken.

And Negima is crap at the beggining because the editors wanted another harem series, but Akamatsu wanted a shounen, so we got a crap start and then it became awesome. True story.

Edit: Well it's PROBABLY true. No concrete evidence. But it makes a lot of sense given how the story detonated in quality once it became a straight up shonen. Either that or Akamatsu got struck by lightning.
