No, he looked like some weak dunce that just needed to make way for Tanimoto. But after seeing his resolution as a martial artist as well as Sougetsu commenting on how he's a little above Tanimoto in everything, it looks like we've got ourselves a bonafide awesome battle. The fact that Ma Sougetsu was one of the fists who was on vacation and was replaced temporarily makes sense given his character and strength. The fact that the replacement's student Chou Enshin wouldn't give his position easily and that's he's really strong also makes sense. Everything's logically sound.
It is a funny serie but the style of figure is not fit for my taste.
Anyway it is still worth watching.
Fighting, Go on >_<
New Chapter and end of fight. Pretty good fight given that it was merely a prelude to Tanimoto replacing Chou. Liked the "hitting himself in the face" bit a lot:P
Also the way the fight ended was badass.
and what else should sougetsu say here about this "new super fighter"..
he has a strong trainer(we never heared that he exists before) and now this new disciple is a little stronger than hermit...uhuuuu
yeah here iam rly curious who will win when this other guy is introduced in 1 fucking chapter and than directly begins to fight for a yomi position against hermit, a well-known and loved chara...
it`s the same as with the other guy hermit fighted...(also a littel stronger but hermit has to improve)
just that this new guy has also a strong trainer and hermit has again to improve...
don`t get me wrong it`s everything fine for me and it sure fitts the story...
but this guy is out of nowhere and now we should expect a fight for life or death against some unknown hyped guy, cause of some lines sougetsu said.
The epic battle of BusterCall vs. Don is decided !!!
And the results are 3:2 for Don..

And again, no one is talking about this series is because this current arc...is pretty pointless. I mean...suddenly Yomi gives a fuck about weapons? Then there's a weapon squad? Why are these no name characters fighting the masters, and why is this taking more then one chapter? There's no way they can win, they're nameless! I'm just glad the arcs in this series are so short, when they suck it means we can move onto the next one.
Now the last arc where Kenichi fought that Russian disciple, that was a good one.
oh wow, a kenichi thread, glad I didn't make one yet. And yeah, sure is a lot of ecchi lately. And for some reason I'm starting to miss Miu, kinda hope this arc would end already.
Anyway this arc is far from pointless. Not only does it expand a little upon the Yomi organisation, it builds up Kushinada as a damn scary future enemy, furthers Kenichi's relationship with Chikage so it doesn't seem bullshit when she inevitably joins the good guys and even potentially gives us a new ally in the form of Kagerou.

The other fighters wreck there opponents, but Shigure gets the short end of the stick here. Look in the background, the silhouettes of Shigure are all of her legs with her ass in the air! There's no excuse for that, not where pretty literally ever shot of her up to this point has had some level of fanservice in it already. Why couldn't we get a cool sword slash during this action scene, and save the fanservice for the comedy scenes which are supposed to be more laid back. It's what I hate about Shigure's character, too many sacrifices are made for the sake of sex appeal. I really wish there were more scenes of her kicking ass like the other masters.
And fanservice isn't all bad. I remember a scene where her and the headmaster Hyato were wearing thongs by a public pool. Now, THAT scene was funny because of it's absurdity. Here, well the naked girl in the panel is enough, what was the artist thinking those silhouettes would do? They aren't drawn well enough to be sexy and like I said, they can't be taken seriously. It adds nothing and sucks tension out of the scene.
Yeah...that all happened in one chapter though, the Kushinada parts and Chikage parts at least. That doesn't make out for the other wasted chapters.Anyway this arc is far from pointless. Yeah...that's all pretty bland though. It seems pretty pointless for a group for lethal martial artists need weapons for anyway. IYomi's a large organization. I'm sure they have a lot of different agendas. This time it was weapons, another time it was assassinating government officials.
The weapon's squad was mentioned ages ago when Shigure first fought Kagerou.
That's be more true if these other guys were more interesting. They were completing unmemorable characters. That's the real weakness of this arc, it just came out of nowhere and threw the characters into these actions scenes, which I'm guessing what the author's intention anyway. He wanted sex and action, and here it was. It's pretty interesting actually. It goes to show that Yomi doesn't only have the nine fists to their name and everyone else is weak sauce.
They wouldn't win even if they had a name. Plot dictated it. It still gives an interesting exposition on Yomi and the competence of its members. Like that one guy who managed to get away from elder while dragging his friend. That's an incredible feat initself.
But despite this I guess it's to be expected. This series is pretty much a middle road shonen manga anyway. It's not really bad...but never gets that good either. Personally, I'm just reading it as long as I can find it on onemanga. I've only gotten more into this series now that the anime's airing on tv.
what i know is that the current running series of this was the remake of the original? correct me if i'm wrong.. anyway this manga is good it reminds me og karate kid movie hehe..
one of the best martial arts series to be made.
current events: ryozanpaku fought against the armed squad of the Yami
I'm FAIRLY sure there's a topic already around for this.
That said, I'm not sure why this is popular. I've never actually read it but I'm expecting it's similar to Ippo, which I dislike.
No it's not like ippo!
It's a standard formula fighting manga, same formula as Ranma 1/2, Tenjou Tenge,Holyland.
Holyland came out later with the exact same idea as History Strongest Diciple, but has somehow more insight and a more realistic setting.
Fanservice of HSDK is a mixture of Ranma and Tenjou Tenge.
Not bad, but nothing special.
The humour is where HSDK is brilliant. I really laughed a lot while reading it.
The Romace thing annoy with time, because the whole story takes to long to achieve anything. But if long going romantic, fighting comedy is your thing, HSDK is the manga you are searching for.
Ranma is a classic. But I hated Ten Ten! It's a maddening series with a nonsensical plot and way too much misogyny. I dropped that like a lead brick when it went into the Edo era.
I'm not really a fan of fanservice, hence the エッチなのはいけないと思います！, but I can tolerate if if it's Ranma level. That's not bad.
Ten Ten is like an extreme though.
This topic exists. http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=17022
I also enjoyed Ranma, but I abhor HSDK.
The polar opposite of misogny. The main character's akin to Sanji, in the way that he holds a double-standard towards women. However, his chivalry's impractical, nonsensical, and annoying. I was vexed by a few other things too.
If actions speak louder than words, I'm the most deafening noise you've heard
I'll be that ringing in your ears, that will stick around for years
I love it. It was my second favorite manga till I read Negima. Awesome fights, awesome art and fantastic characterization and humour. And it's about the only series I know where the main character is a talentless loser who got to where he is with pure hard work and tons of killer training. Imagine someone like Rock Lee being the main character.
