hmmm.... if you already did that then chances are slim of virus.
still you might wanna check start up programs (window key+ r) type msconfig there and go to start up tab.

if you wanna know where exactly is problem then type tracert facebook.com in command prompt

p.s: try changing your dns to 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8

Ok, this isn't really a bug problem. It's more a question about drivers for dummies. I have a vague understanding of them. I know with my old desktop clunker, I was given a CD with drivers for it, and I found out the hard way why I have to install those drivers on it, when I reinstall windows.

I want to re-instal windows on my new shiny netbook computer. (it's about time for a fresh start to clean things up, I think) and yes, I have an external DVD drive for my windows CD. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say I need new drivers for my new pc that correspond with it's internal components? am I right?

So how do I go about figuring out what drivers I need, and where do I get them? I know there's a smart PC guy out there who can help me. :)

So did you buy a netbook that didn't have an OS on it?

If that's the case, install windows like normal and then look up what parts are inside your computer. Off the top of my head though, the only drivers you'll probably need are for your video card. There shouldn't be a non-integrated soundcard on a netbook. It might have integrated video and if that's the case I'm not sure if you'd need drivers for that even. Go to the run menu and type "msinfo32" then press enter. Go to Components -> Display and post the name of the graphics card here.

no no no. :) i'm on my netbook right now. when i say new, i mean new compared to my old clunker desktop pc. I was just thinking of reinstalling windows cause my computer is starting to act slow, and i thought a fresh start would do it good. so should I still do that thing you suggested above and look up my graphics card?

ok, you want some info. lets see. "system information:

I got an HP netbook. it says here:
    Intel(R) Atom(TM)
    CPU N270 @1.6GHz
    1.6GHz 0.99GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension (whatever that last part means)

I have windows XP Professional version 2002 Service pack 3

ooh a "hardware" tab and a "device manager button"
there is a section that says "display adapters"
    it says twice there:
Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family

Edit: someone else started giving me suggestions on facebook. he just told me none of that is the model type. I guess it is an HP Mini

Well there's the part of the website for drivers. You just type in the model number and it should go to a place where you can download them.

Edit: Here's for all the HP Minis:

I'm having an issue with my Skype. I don't know if any of you guys can help, but here's how it goes.

So I turn on my Skype and I get this:

    Spoiler:

Nothing too weird you'd think at first glance. However according to the Skype app on my iPhone, none of these people are online. And I've already checked that message that person sent me. So it seems to be stuck on my computer for when the following first happened:

    Spoiler:

It's done this every time I've tried talking to anyone, even the mic test, on Skype. It always crashes. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype to see if that would change anything. Needless to say, it doesn't.

    Help please?

For months my computer has been inconstantly slow while browsing the internet. For many minutes at a time it'll load pages quickly, and all of a sudden creepily slow, time out, or load with the page layout messed up.

Other people in my house connected to the same Wi-Fi router have no problems, so it is not a problem there.

I've checked the firewall to make sure that it is not blocking anything for Firefox, and fully allows it.

I have a LOT of free space on my computer, it's not a lack of memory. 3GB of RAM, it actually runs fine, it's just when connecting.

I've used various anti-virus/malware programs and haven't found anything. My regular program is Microsoft Security Essentials, which I run multiple times every day. I also use CCleaner to clean up temporary files and check the registry. All seems good all the time.

Windows 7 Home Premium, 3GB RAM, Linkeys Router, Firefox is my browser. I've tried other browsers, same deal with speed.

I'm not the best with this kind of stuff, but I'm not an idiot with computers, so any help I'd appreciate.

Try clearing your cache and/or temporary internet files. Firefox as of late has just been slow for me in general so it could just be the browser. Although you say you've tried others so I guess that's not the case. But yeah, cache/temp files is the first thing to come to mind.

anyone know how to deal with redirect viruses? Tabs just randomly pop up, and usually it tries to get me to download something called registry defender. I have superantispyware, Malwarebytes, and spybot running, but aside from some cookies, they don't pick up anything. I even ran tdss killer a few times.

I swear I've tried nearly everything. I constantly clear the cache, use different programs to clean up my drives.

This has been bugging the shit out of me for months.

It seems like the computer has trouble RUNNING a browser, as sometimes watching videos on youtube will cause the computer to overheat. The strange thing is though it doesn't seem to use that much memory, a program like Itunes uses more.

Have you checked your RAM usage? Or what other programs are running and how much RAM/CPU they're using? If you're having problems go to the task manager and look in the bottom right corner for your RAM usage. Look at the tasks page for CPU usage.

In task manager it says Firefox is using roughly 238,900K memory as I'm normally using it.

At the bottom it should say "Physical Memory" with a percent, that's the total amount of RAM being used. That amount sounds right for Firefox.

    Physical Memory is only 34%

Like I said, it doesn't seem to be an issue of RAM or Storage Space, and doesn't seem like a virus or malware. This is why it's confusing me.

Yeah that's weird. What about CPU usage? It's right next to physical memory. And how many tasks are running?

The only tasks I have running are Itunes and Firefox. CPU is bouncing around 12-20%
