You're looking on the wrong page for tasks but I guess it doesn't matter :P . And it's running slowly now? I have no idea, sorry. You could have a virus or something but even then your computer has plenty of RAM and isn't at 100% CPU usage so there's, like you said, no reason for it to be running slowly.

This has been bugging the shit out of me for months.

It seems like the computer has trouble RUNNING a browser, as sometimes watching videos on youtube will cause the computer to overheat. The strange thing is though it doesn't seem to use that much memory, a program like Itunes uses more.
Could be a problem with your GPU. What graphics card are you running?

In Firefox you can try Tools->Advanced->General, untick "use hardware acceleration where available" and see if that speeds things up. If the GPU is having issues, having this ticked can actually slow things down. Downside is you'll lose some effects, and others will now exclusivley rely on the cpu, but it's something to try to see where the problem is at least.

Check the task manager for tasks that shouldn't be there and if you find any that might be related to the virus end it and then try to scan again.

Yeah, it sounds like an integrated Intel card which aren't known for being all that good. Try what Darkstorm said.

do you have any other recommendations? :/

Malwarebytes keeps picking up the same thing over and over. I'm not entirely certain if that's related to registry defender or not.

Alright, I've tried some more things and my computer is still browsing very slow.

As I said, I've tried other browsers and they were just as slow, so I'm sticking to Firefox since I know it the best. I've tried a few recommended tweaks to help the memory, as I realized it was rather high, and got an add-on to help cap the amount of memory it uses, but it hasn't really made a difference.

For a while I thought the memory might have been the issue, with Itunes and Firefox using the most, so I changed some Windows settings, getting rid of things such as Aero and other things that could use up RAM. Again, hasn't impacted the speed of a browser.

I really don't know what else to do at this point. I've tried many things and I've completely ruled out Viruses/Malware, Registry issues, internet connection issues, Firewall issues, memory issues.

At this point I think it might just be the hardware, though I don't know what would make only the browser slow. Everything else works perfectly fine, the issue is only browsing. My computer has been overheating a bit, and I know inspirons have had issues overheating in general, but it seems like it's doing it when I'm browsing a page on Facebook, one that would have a lot of things to load such as pictures. I don't know what would make the computer struggle to run only the browser compared to other things.

Websites like Youtube, and especially Tumblr are just unbearable to visit at this point.

Yeah, I have an Alienware laptop, and for some reason, it's having HUGE issues with the charger. I currently have it plugged it, and for whatever reason, it keeps saying that the charger is being plugged in and unplugged over and over, as if I'm doing so. On top of that, that charger keeps getting insanely hot, even while my computer itself is relatively cool. Anyone have any idea what's going on with my charger? Is the AC adapter dead or something? Thanks.

This isn't about a bug, but a hardware problem.

Does anyone know how long I can survive with an excessively clicking hard drive?
I know I don't have much time left, but I'd like to know just how much.

If you wanna know what it sounds like: http://www.labnol.org/gadgets/strang...rd-drive/5377/ (it's the "excessive clicking" sample)

Not sure if a bug per se but when I put on speedfan to check something while having a browser open on nico video, suddely the screen.....shifted. Half of the screen was on the right and half on the left, like with an old monitor, but the computer still thought everything was at the center. Only putting it in standy rectified the problem, but I would have liked to know what it was.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but something really freaky is going on with my computer. Whenever I turn my computer off or the computer goes into standby mode after some time of inactivity or when I even turn off the monitor, the screen is all white. Not black, white. I didn't even know that was possible. The only way I could take away the whiteness is by turning it off at the socket. This morning when I tried to switch on the computer (the screen was still white), it wouldn't turn on no matter how many times I pressed the power button on my tower. It was only by taking out and putting back in the power cord connected to my tower that my computer turned on for some magic reason. I don't know if these two anomalies are connected or not. Can anyone offer some help on what I should do or tell me what's going on?

Here's my PC problem (exactly copied from my question on Yahoo answers):
So I have this kind of weird problem with my Vaio Laptop. So here it goes:I am using my internet browser watching videos and going on Twitter/Facebook and other stuff with no lag at all. Then I close my browser,do something else (use Word or play Minecraft) and then I start my browser again and all of a sudden it's super laggy and slow and at the same time the computer is using the fan to cool the system. It's really weird and it happens really often now and believe it's really annoying.I contacted Sony and they have no clue.So if anyone can help me,I would really appriciate it. :)

When things run smooth open the task manager. Then keep it open and as soon as the thing starts getting hot sort the processes by mem. usage. Sounds to me like you have a program start up, maybe in the background.

It could be something called "setup.exe". If it is terminate it. Basicly do that with the most mem. taxing process and it should stop.

Okay this is sorta odd. When I play youtube/dailymotion videos, stuff is normal, but when I open several things/sites etc. it can happen that the sound suddenly starts making cackling noises. Now this isn't a headset thing, it happens with the speakers as well. But it's not an audio thing per se, for example when I open up a Divx video, the sound is gone. It also goes away if you restart the video a couple of seconds later.

Looked around but none of the descriptions seemed to match my problem.

posting without my curse right now because i'm 100% serious about this problem.

    http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fi...ures-w7-vista/

all of the images in my folders don't show thumbnails anymore, only the default windows icon.
i tried both solutions shown in the link above, but they did nothing.

i don't understand, they just randomly stopped displaying thumbnails for no apparent reason.

    Don't worry, be happy~
