Thread: One Piece Timeskip?

Helmeppo hasn't grow in height really, just hair length. Koby is the major one who has change, yet when you compare the height against Luffy it isn't that much of a great change. People during puberty can shoot up a foot over the span of a few months (though can suffer later in life due to this). If he was the size of a full grown man, I'd have question things.

never claimed that, but in contrary to i.g. Naruto there was no need to mature the main characters.

    @gorlom:
I really admire Oda for his concept of One Piece, just because the whole story is told without any mayor breaks, even if this means that there ist no character development as effect of aging the main characters.

yeah, i know my english quite sucks but i hope my point was at least slightly coherent

I actually liked Naruto before the timeskip. Then kishimoto had to screw it up. If one piece does the same I would probably stop.

I don't see a reason for one piece to have a timeskip though. Unless someting happens in the New World.

If there's a time skip in One Piece, it'll happen after the series has "ended."

Basically, it'll show us what everybody is like 20 years down the road or something.

Actually there was a reason. I think a timeskip is better than reading naruto in the two years in training.

It's just that it wasnt done properly. Maybe just 1 chapter showing all the events in two years?

example: Maybe naruto actually trying to accomplish something in one panel and sasuke doing whatever he did with orochimaru in the other

Maybe Kuma and the seemingly Clock-Themed Emperor will have a fight that could end with Luffy somehow ending in the middle of the battle to be teleported to a Future where everyone is miserable because he wasn't there to support them as a captain or (for the irony of it) where everyone became outstanding individuals....

    Is that or...

Strawhat Babies (Going to the Past is still considered a TimeSkip, no?).....

I dont really know if i agree with Narutos training beeing a good reson for the timeskipp. it's more of a crappy excuse imo.
The whole story up to that point has been the training of leaf genins.

He could have done a "misc" arc (not relevant to the main plot) where they just fool around with lowlvl stuff. or have a annual ninja games.
whatever just to wind down. now he just seems to be stacking drama adventures on each other with a 2 year gap (where to me it seems nothing happened except some genins became stronger) in there.

Doesn't anyone realize that there have already been some time skips in One Piece? After Baroqe Works was defeated, there was a three day time skip. After the crews encounter with Aokiji, there was another 3 day time skip.
If I think I'm insane, does it mean I'm not? Because a truly insane person wouldn't know that they are insane?

Onigumo: Yep, that has already been mentioned in this thread. We realize it, but! they arent significant enough to really be discussed like the naruto timeskip.

Missing out on 3 days when Luffy has to stay in bed just doesn't matter.

Missing out on 3 years of adventure (or whatever), when we have no idea what he has been up to, is more along the lines of what people think of when they hear "timeskip".

I think the crew had already gone through a time skip already. At least to me anyway. Compare their appearance from chap 1 to now. Closest thing your probably gonna get to a timeskip folks.
