It doesn't matter whether or not the complaint is actually legally valid. All that matters is the threat of a lawsuit in the first place.

The point is, if Prince files the suit it'll have to at least be seen by a judge and has the chance of actually going to trial. Whether or not it then gets thrown out doesn't matter, Viz will have to pay out of their own pockets for their own legal defense and everything. If Viz won, the Judge MAY declare Prince has to pay their legal fees, but that doesn't always happen and even if it did, Viz would be responsible for the costs until they won, Prince would just then have to pay them back.

They would REALLY prefer not to even go through that hassle, because it's a costly and tedious process, especially when there's a chance, however slim, that they'll lose and be stuck with the bill and probably have to pay him even more in damages.

Can't say I've ever heard of David Productions but somebody on the ANN forum said they did Level E and I never found anything wrong with that series's animation.

Takako Shimizu (Samurai Champloo, Mushi-Shi, Haibane Renmei) is serving as character designer and chief animation director.

I don't recognise any of the seiyuus except the guy voicing Dio does the voice of Aokiji in One Piece. I'm really hoping Crunchyroll simulcasts this cuz I think it looks really good.

David Production is a young but promising studio. They did Book of Bantorra and Level E, both of which are really great, and Ben-to, despite the ridiculous everything, had good action and animation. So I think they are capable to do justice to Phantom Blood.

Also, Phantom Blood might have done the best XIX century interpretation ever.

Luke Valentine is gonna be Dio, that's interesting. Also, Hayato Matsuo as composer, also a plus.

Still looking forward to this.

I wasn't too big on David productions when I first heard them, had no clue who they were. But looking at their past series, they can probably do it well. Ben-To despite me dropping the series, had some really good action scenes so they can probably handle that.

As for the new art, I can't judge it too much. I knew the studio wouldn't go with the original style Araki used for Phantom Blood, but I am happy with these designs. You can certainly see that Joseph is Jonathons grandson much more in this style.

I've been following this anime news for quite a while now. I'm a big fan of Jojo and I am eager for this fall to finally see the anime in action.

If this ever gets dubbed, Tim Curry needs to voice Dio.
Trust me on this one if you've seen the abridged, it fits so well.

The chances of Tim Curry voicing Dio is about as big as all of us here having a chance of being Hollywood stars.
