Not sure when their contract is up on syndication rights, since it has been over a year since it last aired in the states, but I would imagine they either still have the rights and it's almost up, or it just ended (depending on how long the deal was).

I'm assuming Funimation is probably trying to move quickly to get a certain amount of episodes in the can for when the contract IS up (hence the quick pace they're moving), so that they can pitch it to other networks.

I just want to clear something up, once again. Toei is responsible for the TV broadcast in North America, not FUNimation. While they have pretty much everything else, Toei still controls the TV distrobution. I'm not quite sure who owns the streaming rights, but my understanding it wasn't FUNimation though and may be either ViZ or Toei.

I'm just bugged by the fact that people believe that FUNimation is charge for this and I keep seeing it over and over, everywhere I go. Although, I do wonder if One Piece would be in this situation now if FUNimation was in control of the Broadcast rights...

In any case, I do have to wonder what the situation with Cartoon Network is with the series right now. There was speculation that their rights would end this year in February, but there is no solid proof that this'll happen. It does bug me that a network would just sit on the rights, rather than just default them back to the original owner, especially since they're doing practically nothing with it. Wouldn't be the first I've seen a network do this, but it just doesn't make any sense...

The mindset behind it is that if they let a show go while it still might be viable to another network, it could be giving a potential hit to another network.

Better to sit on it till the momentum of the show dies than to allow it to fall into the hands of competition.

Three months of Fun Piece dubs being posted here! Serves me right for not checking in. :(

I buy the dvd's, I have the right to state my opinion, even if you don't like it.

And the barrel scene made my mom stop watching the episode and skip past it, so it's not just me. I don't know how you people took that blasting through surround sound.

Luffy's va is fine, it's just that moment. Notice I said FIRST episode.

Seriously, you just pounce on anyone who has something bad to say about the dub, just because it's leagues better than 4kids' dub, doesn't make it spectacular.

Silver (with a little gold in the middle for the great scenes) looks mighty nice next to shit. DONE.
To be frank, that scene was annoying in the original too. Thus it was done right. I really don't see how else it could have been done anyway.

I been posting/lurking on the fansub forum thinking that there was nothing new for the dub to discuss other than DVD releases every couple months. I had no idea the Skypiea dub was still airing overseas and that it was being posted here right under my nose!

Well I guess I'm eating my words if a series like "Rave Master" gets on Sci-Fi. However it kind of makes sense. Sci-Fi mostly depends on back-catalogue anime and "Rave Master" is definitely back-catalogue material, maybe they're testing the waters for a shonen series as well. BUt the thing is "One Piece" is much, much higher in the episode count, I don't know if Ani-MOnday could handle that.

Anyway it is true that Toei Animation controls the T.V. broadcast rights, Funimation has said this numerous times. It makes sense because before FUNimation got the series, 4Kids gave up on it and the license was basically in limbo but the show wasn't cancelled, someone had to take control. I don't know when the Cartoon Network's broadcast rights expire, February makes sense though. Toei Animation, last I heard, was still talking to Cartoon Network, so I imagine until there's no way Cartoon Network will air the series again Toei Animation won't give up on them. And they'll probably give up after Cartoon Network's rights expire and they still don't budge, and even then an official announcement of "One Piece" changing channels will take a while. If it does change networks, I expect it to either go to Disney XD or Nicktoons Network based on past eperiences. And Sheisha owns the digital rights.

This would mean episodes being on mediums such as iTunes and Hulu, correct?

nay one piece and many other animes are meant for kids as well as adults its just that as we know censorship is different in our damn country... (to those of who live in USA) and how selfish of CN to keep the rights of one piece to their damn selves if they arent even going to air it how stupid can you get.... it is true what they have been saying on youtube... america has gone crazy with censorship... DAMNIT! I hope someone cleans that mess up...!

Almost every country has some fucked up censorship policy also don't believe what's said by anyone on Youtube unless that person is talking out of their mouth and not their asses.

Hi, spaz. Welcome to the forum. *censored*

What does CN sitting on a broadcast license have to do with censorship? I don't think the word means what you think it means. Clear your mind. Focus. Try some punctuation and capitalization. Good, yes?

Cartoon Network paid for the broadcast rights. They will expire at some point. None of that matters if no other channel wants to air it.

The censorship doesn't really bother me very much. Of course I would love if One Piece aired uncensored in the US like it did in Austrailia, but that is very unlikely to happen. What bothered me when it was airing in the US was that they kept the 4Kids name changes. Now I'm not talking about Zolo because I've pretty much gotten used to that, but Loftra, Neptunians, Wyler, etc get very annoying very fast. I would be perfectly fine if One Piece aired with a moderate amount of censorship (like it was airing) but without the 4Kids name changes.
