Yeah, but it works. Thats what Funimation saw. Ethier that or they saw the had a rageing success with FMA Brotherhood being subbed so the figured why the hell not try to do it with One Piece

Didn't you say yourself that One Piece haven't had any real good subbing groups lately anyway?

    Oyah, here-

That only that proves is that One Piece have had some bad subbers.

Moreover, you're saying all this as if FUNimation is gonna suck balls when it's already been proven in their DVD releases that FUNimation has good subs, and will remain consistant.

If they do send C&D's, I say good riddance to inconsistencies, lines ripped straight out of incorrect scanlations, and pointless moving texts, and then I say hello to FUNi once more. I'm gonna support them like I have from the beginning.

Well I kinda expect Funi's video thing to be slow today. Since the new episode of FMA: Brotherhood came out today on Funi's website.

HUZZAH! Between this, FMA, and Naruto I think we could be seeing the next big trend in anime. Professional 'fansub' (yes, I'm aware of the oxymoron) releases.
"And One Piece is a great title. We feel we needed to do the
more authentic dub that's exactly like the Japanese version."

Never mind the fact that THIS is out too now. I guess look over the translation later since I've seen this episode.

I feel that it's how things should be done in the first place. It's far more efficient

More like professional releases in crappy quality only available in the holy land while pissing on everyone in the rest of the world. Not that long ago I thought legal streaming might finally end the legal gray area of fansubs and bring us all into a civilized world in which we can all watch our anime legally. I couldn't have been more wrong. Legal streaming is the worst thing that's happened in the history of anime distribution. Honest fans who buy their anime and manga via all the legal means available who import dvd's from funimation are now denied to watch the show by that same company. They're going to kill fansubs and with that the international fan community will die. Amen

I also am compelled to give a big "WTF" to anybody in this thread that thought even for a second the current episodes would be released dubbed. Seriously. They've got hundreds of back-episodes to finish dubbing. Voice Actors need to sleep sometime. And poor Eric Vale. Dubbing Sanji AND writing the dub script. Give the guy a break.

Legal grey area...? Someone has clearly never heard of the Berne Convention and how international law takes over when a show isn't licensed in certain parts of the world. So long as it's copyrighted in Japan, distributing it without permission regardless of where you are in the world is ILLEGAL. There never was a grey area.
And it's the worst thing for whom? The people who actually break their backs making the show or the self entitled fans? Seriously, there ARE ways to change your computer's registered location so that you can sneak around the region locks. Why not try doing that instead of whining?

It's a moral gray area. Not a legal one.

WOW! This is some crazy awesome news!
I tried the streaming today and it's also slow for me. I'm at work, so I just went a little ways into the episode, but it was damn choppy the way through though. It felt a bit strange watching it with the "authentic" subtitles, especially the intro. It was weird not having the moving hiragana for the music intro. hehe!

All in all, very nice news to have. I can't wait.

Yeah I mean seriously, Funimation dubbed pretty much dubbed the first 195 episodes in two years. And they giving great translations and great acting. Its nice to see them doing this for everyone that care about One Piece in the North America. And this give me a sigh relief to know that Funi will be doing the entire series.

I also want to say that Funimation is working their asses off for us to make One Piece prefect as it can be for us fans in the u.s. that to suffer with the old dub.

I felt the same way about Naruto when Viz started doing it. The openings just don't seem right without translations at the bottom and the weekly "note" from Dattebayo.
