Thread: Non-Disney animation thread

  1. #1

    Default Non-Disney animation thread

Thread title says it all, and it may include CGI movies if you want, ATM I'm kinda more interested in non-CGI movies...like this one-

The German ver. of the movie had more scenes than the English ver. (these additional scenes are deleted scenes in the Eng. ver. apparently).

Does anyone know where to find a torrent of this movie?
Also, short animated movies may also be discussed, but no Disney movies

Wallace and Gromit. Any of them. All great.

Not so great is the Titanic Animated film (In the end I believe like 1 or 2 people die.)

    THE IRON GIANT.

Seriously, it's up there as one of my favorite movies ever.

Cartoon Network ruined that movie for me. Playing a single movie over and over for an entire day? Brilliant... So brilliant that I can't stand that movie anymore.

    omg!
I always caught that movie at the point where he was calling Hogarth all those names; Champ, Skipper, Buckaroo, etc. I loved the movie to death before that time. But then again it's still a pretty good movie, I just won't watch it ever again.

Seconded, love Wallace and Gromit; Neil Park is a GENIUS. (I didn't know they put out a new one in 2008! Must find!) They play his shorts "Shaun the Sheep" here on Teletoon, too. =3

Hmm, recommendations *trying hard not to mention Anime-Movies*...I'll put up some older ones first.

The Last Unicorn -- If someone here HASN'T seen this movie, SEE IT NOW.
    Spoiler:

Gay Purr-ee -- By Warner Bros, and it's quite cute.
    Spoiler:

Watership Down -- Based on the novel, and features a warren of rabbits trying to find a new home. Not the warmfuzzy movie you might think it'd be.
    Spoiler:

And pretty much anything by Don Bluth. I'll have more later, from more recent ones.

EDIT: Taboo's got a good one there with Cat's Don't Dance. <3 And stupid me, not looking on YOUTUBE. *makes new links*

Am I a bad person that I've never seen An American Tale or Cats don't Dance? I'll pull out my wallet right now and I'll go buy them if I have to.

Can't say I'm a fan of Fern Gully. The villain was straight from the Captain Planet uber-strong villain drawing board. I didn't like the way they made loggers look either evil or stupid. It was to heavy handed with their message.

But that Watership Down looks interesting. I might look for it some time. I have heard about it, and it sounds very dark.
If I think I'm insane, does it mean I'm not? Because a truly insane person wouldn't know that they are insane?

Thief and the cobbler: recobbled cut.... NICE. I'll have to watch that later.

The original Land Before Time (also a Don Bluth film) is pretty great, also. Heck. Don Bluth OWNED the 80's theatrical animation. Its been almost 25 years and THIS song is still forever part of this and extremely memorable... (tho they REALLY should ahve gotten real singers... not kids... I gues thats what the end credits were for.

American Tail actually pretty much pioneered having the soft rock song that got radio play that tied into an animated film.

...yeah. REALLY should have had real singers. I guess they learned that lesson by Fieval Goes West.
