Compared to the first trailer I thought it just wasn't put together well. Also the actual martial arts of it all wasn't choreographed as well. Thanks to the director not knowing squat.

As long as we are clear not the actual games themselves but just the trailers.

    Gotcha.

I thought as far as story and emotional impact Hope WAS the better trailer.

But as far as choreography goes Deceived DID indeed own.

Yeah but not nearly as much this time around. Mostly just fodder who gets blown up. The soldier who dives over and throws the grenade, some of the soldiers who go running down the hill. A few more things but nothing really note worthy.

Interview with James Ohlen at Gamescon revealed some juicy lil tidbits.
    • Twilek won't be limited to Smugglers only.
    • More species are going to be announced for the classes in future.
    • There will probably be a system, which allows to transfer some of the playable species to other classes, which were not available for those species before.
    • Guilds ships won't be available at release, but it's definitely something the designers are heavily discussing.
    • Every class will feature more than three but less than ten companion characters.
    • Some companion characters can leave permanently, others will stay no matter how much you piss them off. Whenever a companion is about to leave, there will be big story events so that making a companion leave is always a very conscious decision.
    • Different lightsaber styles are represented by certain skills of Jedi and Sith advanced classes.
    • There will probably no customization system in terms of two outfits - one for design, one for stats - since James answered that they have a hallway full of different armor sets to individualize your character.
    • Flashpoints/Instances will be repeatable. If you repeat a flashpoint, your last story decision will count for later events. Former decisions of yours in that flashpoint will be "erased".
    • James couldn't tell us anything about a European testing date.
    • Animations and graphics are definitely going to be improved.
    • Release is still scheduled for Spring 2011.
    • As we asked about Open PvP, we were told that BioWare works together with the Warhammer Online Mythic guys on this feature. James added that this feature will definitely be implemented, if it's not included at release.
    • There will probably be achievements and titles, although James couldn't officially confirm anything. He said that they are talking about titles as Darth since 2006 and that they are a really cool and cheap feature. Looks like we will see titles and achievements in game.
    • James Ohlen couldn't give us new information on crafting.
Bolded the stuff that's REALLY important.

I always wondered why KOTOR didn't allow you to choose a race. Weird.

And I've never understood why PvP isn't a free thing to do in MMOs. You (as far as I know with having played WoW for about a month) can't just walk up to a player and start attacking, there's all this stuff that has to happen first. You have to be on a specific server, I don't know. I'm probably just ranting about something I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Anyway, game looks like it's coming along fantastically. I don't really want to pay to play it but I might give it a go when it's released.

You got me on that one brother... BUT

I do believe the reason was that Darth Raven was CANONICALLY a human type... so it would be a headache to try and change that by allowing multiple races.

    However...

And I've never understood why PvP isn't a free thing to do in MMOs. I'll stop you before you stumble on this one.

IF you are on a PvP server... there is NOTHING stopping you from seeing an enemy player and attacking them.

    Nothing

    Nada

    Zero

Unless you are in a Sanctuary town... in which case you CAN attack but you are going to get RAPED by guards.

Unless you mean PvP within a faction... in which case the command /duel is your friend.

    This is pertaining to WoW.

Anyway, game looks like it's coming along fantastically. I don't really want to pay to play it but I might give it a go when it's released.
If this game employs the "free to play" system I won't play it.

You're probably thinking "Holy shit StrawHatRican just lost his goddamn mind!", but hear me out.

Free to play MMOs traditionally have:
-Terrible servers (which means choppy and laggy gameplay)

-Dubious content upgrades (meaning once you reach endgame at max level you'll have at MAX two or three places to go with GIANT timeskips with zero new content outside of Expansions)

-And the WORST thing about "free to play" MMOs is that they FORCE you to pay REAL money for leveling upgrades or in game ITEMS.

I'd rather pay 10-15 bucks a month (it never goes over that price tag) and just do whatever I want with a STABLE server and content upgrades (WoW is incredibly generous with their patch upgrades)

So I was right, I've no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to MMOs. Just seems kind of weird to me I guess that they even have non PvP servers.

And I do understand about the monthly payments. They do make sure you get the best experience out of the game. Just paying monthly to play a game kind of aggravates me. Same reason I don't like Xbox Live.

To give a reason for PvE / PvP servers.

PvP servers are like the Wild West.

Imagine you are leveling in the beaches of Stranglethorn Vale.

All the sudden you find an elusive creature that has a 100 percent chance to drop something you REALLY want.

ALL the sudden a HIGH level player comes in and kills you with a single strike PLUS steals the kill.

This can only happen in a PvP server (unless on the PvE server you GIVE him permission to kill you... in which case you deserve what's coming to you!)

Hence why it was established from Day One that PvE and pvP servers would have different rule sets.

That's not to say you CANT participate in PvP activities in a PvE server: you just need to find hotspots/feuding areas and Battlegrounds.

I'm really super excited about this. Its only just over a month i FINALLY decided to play the 1st Knights of the Old Republic ( which i ended up developing an unhealthy addiction too- but totally worth it and i regret nothing in having spent 120 + hours in the 3 weeks i played ).

This is going to be my first MMO. If I have any questions or need any in game help, I am going to be coming to you SHR.

Feel free, I'm THIS close to creating a guild (the main website is actually letting people create guilds and recruit members).

ANY question you have about it I can either answer or give you a developer's answer from the website.

I'm still on the fence about whether I'll be leaving WoW for this on the first month (usually first month is free), but all signs are pointing to yes.

Especially after finding out that Sith Inquisitors (think a Sith warlock) can spec to be a tank (my favorite MMO "holy Trinity" class)

I thought light sabres were meant to cut straight through most material.....?

They must be using some kind of glowing baseball bat then.

    It's for gameplay reasons.

The game would be no fun if you could just ONE HIT KO everything.

Just look at Soul Calibur, Samurai Showdown and really... any Star Wars game ever made.

In Jedi Knight Academy, Lightsaber was a 1 hit kill.
Also, HK-47 is back for the Old Republic. He fucking rules. Also, i know fuck all about MMO's, never played any, but the gameplay probably won't be all that different from KOTR so it shouldn't be too hard to catch on.

Don't suppose anyone bought the 'Deceived' novel did they when it came out the other week? I didn, but i probably will when i got spare cash to spend.

I didn't get Deceived but I'm 110% sure my buddy did (he got the last novel).

When he's done with it I usually have dibs on 2nd hand reading :D.

Concerning the gameplay it's KOTOR meets WoW (also known as every MMO in the market), so it should be BEYOND easy to pick up for any MMO player and any KOTOR player.

That reminds me, I forgot ALL about THIS trailer.
