OK this is going to be my first MMO, so here some noob questions. thx in advanced.

-What happens when you die? I guess there won't be save points in mmo's???
-What's a guild for? And is it necessary to be in one to get the full gaming experience?

    That's it for now...

PS: Nice name for your guild Commander Abutali.

First things first, it's Friday so it's time for the update.

This week we get a GREAT Republic Trooper video (easily my favorite Republic class atm, but I WILL be Inquisitor first dammit)

    That being said...

    I'll try my best:

-What happens when you die? I guess there won't be save points in mmo's???
Most MMOs (if not all) just have your "spirit" depart your body and arrive near a graveyard of sorts. You trek your spirit back to your body and presto you're back to life (albeit with your gear requiring repairs).

Since this would be a bit silly in Star Wars (Force Ghosts are kind of "exclusive" after all) Bioware has opted to have a "knock out mechanic" where you "die/get knocked out" and arrive promptly at a Med Facility (gear effects from other MMOs apply). Every character class has an out of combat heal and resurrection ability to ensure you don't spend time trekking back, which brings us to...

-What's a guild for? And is it necessary to be in one to get the full gaming experience?
A guild is essentially a group of people (in my case everyone of my officers are people I've played with for YEARS already) with equal goals that gather together and attempt to conquer content.

Do you need a guild to play the game from level 1-50? (the "cap" if you will)
    Most likely no.

Would it make it easy to find compatriots to help you with "Heroic Quests," "Flashpoints" (four man dungeons basically), PvP, Crafting materials and possibly endgame raids (no info about that but I'm going to throw "10 man raids" out there)?
    Absolutely.

Not to mention MMOs are meant to be social games ;D
PS: Nice name for your guild Commander Abutali.
    I try

Oh man. That was a pretty sweet trailer. The vanguard looks pretty awesome, definitely my prefered choice if i decide to use him.
Nice to see that Sith Inquistor frm the previous trailer back in there and getting killed no less.

Yeah, that Inquisitor got owned by the Trooper... but I loved how she put the Jedi Knight in his place >:V

    (jk, sweet trailer nevertheless)

Oh thanks for the clarifications. I think that I'll have to play it to get it fully.

And Yeah I agree that MMOs should be social games. I'd apply to enter your guild if I didn't hate to be the noob of the group, so I think I'll wait with the guild-thing untill I got some experience.

If you plan on playing on the Sith Empire I'd strongly recommend joining the Banthas, Mugi. Or at least join the same "Galaxy" (server) and at least have a contact in us.

I've taken MMO noobs under my wing before, ask Dervish about my methods.

It's better than trying to tackle it alone, let me tell you.

MMOs have a tendency of being... intimidating.

I'm guessing that the servers function the same as in WoW, with American servers and European servers seperate. Otherwise, it would be fun to join your guild, SHR.

Servers are indeed akin to WoW (they call them "Galaxies" in Beta)

And yes, Bioware HAS confirmed EU and Oceanic servers alongside US-West and US-East timezone servers.

The Inglorious Banthas will be collecting Jedi scalps in US-West, server name will be decided upon release of game.

Well, if you insist :p , I'll gladly apply. You'll hear from me soon. Aisdak Starkiller reporting for duty, Sir.

I like the sith marauder so far. I like the central midfielder - role he can play.

    Good, good.

My friend Tommy (whom I played World of Warcraft with for like 3 years doing endgame raiding and pvp) is playing a Sith Warrior - Juggernaut.

So if all goes we'll, I'll have two Warriors on day one >:D

(a lot of people are leaning towards the Bounty Hunter on the Empire side)

Yeah Bounty hunter would be my second choice. I guess it speaks to the imagination to be bounty hunting out there.

Yeah, that and the fact that according to the Daniel "The voice of The Old Republic" Erickson, the Bounty Hunter is the ONLY class in the game that will do Sith Empire quests and take oddjob Republic quests as well.

Which makes sense, but it's still more grey and badass than the other classes.

That and Bounty Hunters get to transport prisoners in their ship >:V

Just means my trooper will need a bigger BFG.

Truth be told Haggis, I'm playing my Sith inquisitor Light Side aligned (yes, you can do that).

I was going to play Republic when I initially found out about the game, but my favorite classes in WoW are Warlock (affliction) and Warrior (Arms/Prot) and the Sith Empire classes mimic those closer than the Republic side does.

That being said, my alt Republic character WILL be a Trooper, preferably with a BFG and a healing spec, to confuse the hell out of people.
