Thread: Urouge's AMV Corner

Thanks dinty. There's one serious problem with Tashigi AMV's, and that is a serious lack of animation available. I was barely able to scrape together enough material to make a Smoker AMV. I'll look at that song, but I have a feeling that an AMV of Tashigi wont really be feasable until the war gets animated. Her "fight" with Zoro lasted about 20 seconds. She took out some nameless thugs a couple times, and she got completely stomped by Robin. Maybe if I pretend that Kuina is Tashigi I could pull it off. I do like the idea of doing a Tashigi AMV when I can.

EDIT: I looked through the song and it's great, but it's even harder now that I realize that it's a full 5 minutes long. I'll save this one in my back pocket for the day that I have enough animation to pull it off.

I'm really proud of this one. I hope other people like it as much as I do.

Also, I had to include an intro and ending credits this time around so that youtube didn't mute me. The Megaupload file doesn't have them.

Most of Robin AMVs are almost exclusively based on Enies Lobby arc. The fact that your video is more focused around the True History in its globality is original, which is already a good point. Add the song which in my opinion fits almost perfectly with the scenes and you obtain a great tribute for my favorite Strawhat. Thanks for that Urouge.
My only regret is that you didn't use too much of this masking feature which was really great in the final part of your Nami's AMV.

    Admittedly that's a big problem!

(Being more of a manga fan, I forget that what seems like a long scene in the manga is usually just a few seconds in the anime). Sorry about inflicting a 5-minute song on you -- I'd forgotten how long it was! Glad you heard the potential in it also though.

Her "fight" with Zoro lasted about 20 seconds. She took out some nameless thugs a couple times, and she got completely stomped by Robin.
A few other anime moments that might give you more to work with:

-- when Smoker yells at her and she trips down the stairs, nearly impaling herself with a sword she'd been admiring a few minutes before

-- Zoro watching her practice her fighting skills at the Marine training area. (but avoid Zoro's goofy 3-brooms filler that came before it, eh?) ;)

-- Matsu's sword shop. It's probably her longest appearance in the manga, and she's got a lot of different moods there to use

-- when she forbids her crew to arrest Luffy and Co after finding them wounded and asleep in an alleyway after Croc's defeat -- or just before, when she tells them she will defend them while they search for the bomb

-- when she revokes Croc's Shichibukai title after Luffy defeats him, or the scene just before that when she looks up at the sky and holds out her hand to feel the rain

-- when she tells Luffy where to find Croc, has a flash-back of Croc teasing her about justice, and then pounds her fist against the ground in frustration.

-- when she arrives at the dock after the rebellion and cries in front of Smoker, who gives her a stern lecture about becoming stronger (probably her biggest emotional scene), and she resolves to do so. And a few seconds later where she's on the floor leaning on her bed and crying.

-- the scenes on Smoker's boat a few days later at the beginning of the Jaya arc, where Smoker pours her coffee and they talk about the new bounty posters of the SH and the events in Alabasta.

-- the more recent scene were they have just finished defeating a pirate crew on an obscure island in Grand Line and she runs along behind Smoker to catch up to him, and then mistakes one of her subordinates for him because she isn't wearing her glasses

-- oh, and when she challenges Zoro to a rematch in Alabasta and he turns tail and runs screaming from her. Nice.

Maybe if I pretend that Kuina is Tashigi I could pull it off. I do like the idea of doing a Tashigi AMV when I can.
Since I tend to think of them as separate people, I'm more inclined not to want Kuina scenes in it -- unless it's to establish why Zoro reacts to Tashigi the way he does -- but go with your gut. If it works for you, it'll probably work for us too.

I have a feeling that an AMV of Tashigi wont really be feasable until the war gets animated ... I'll save this one in my back pocket for the day that I have enough animation to pull it off.
I'm in agreement with that. Especially with a 5-minute song!

Well, we know she's in the audience at Marineford, so it's likely that she'll have a role in the fighting there soon, too. Yeah, best to file this one away for a year or so.

Same reason you'd want to watch an AMV about any other character -- to see what the editor does with the rough materials he/she was given. A good AMV keeps your interest -- even if you don't like the character that's being spotlighted.

I happen to think Tashigi is an interesting character with good potential for an AMV, but nobody's requiring you to think so, too.

I made a Croc AMV. Unfortunately it took me a long time to figure out how to get this one to work on youtube. Between that and my internet being down for a day and a half before I had to get it published, I didn't have time to get feedback on it before I had to post it for the match. If people have good ideas for me, I might do a version 2 of this thing.

Could you make a One Piece AMV with this song, Urouge-san?

That could actually be kinda fun. If you can find me an mp3 of that song I can throw something together when I have time. I wanted to do something dedicated to the animals anyway.

That AMV is still awesome. Can't think of any nitpicks at the moment, though, so I dunno if I can help you improve it. Still, fucking awesome AMV. And that's a sentence I don't say very often. At all.

    Thanks.

I made my first pure fighting AMV, and it's about Zoro. I don't have much else to say. I had plans to spice it up a bit more but I ran out of time. Thanks to Sai-chan for giving me a spur of the moment critique a couple hours before the match.

I really liked this one but you forgot to add Zoro actually cutting Mr. 1. You had other clips of the fight but you never added the final scene.

The animation of Zoro cutting Mr 1 doesn't actually exist. There's only animation of Zoro resheathing his sword while Mr 1 bleeds. I would have included that but I was cutting out clips left and right. I also cut out a bunch of the Ryuuma fight that I wanted to use as well and also Zoro finishing Cabaji and Hachi (I should have picked a longer song). I had lots of things that ended up not being in the video at all due to time issues. Examples would be fights with Morgan, Sham/Buchi, Tashigi, Braham, Davy Back Fight, Oars, and Kuma. I had all of the video prepared to include but didn't have enough room to include them.

This wont be my last Zoro AMV, though.

This is the AMV I threw together for the final match of the character tournament. It isn't perfect, but it was kind of a rush job. It's certainly not bad, though. The music is "Sanctus" by James Dooley.

東映アニメーション (Toei Animation) has filed a copyright violation against this video and it was subsequently taken down by youtube.

A game is a game. Nothing more and nothing less. act like that.

I belive that, to become realy good at something, you have to enjoy the process not the result.

I think this song's lyric fits One Piece story:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHr-SdtVZjY

If you are going to do an amv with this song, could you but the lyric into the video (sub)? Because not that every watcher is good enough in english to be able to hear the lyric.

Thanks. I was going to, but, umm, that situation was complicated. Let's leave it at that.

Hmmm, maybe. I don't have any ideas that are awesome enough to move it above the other videos I have in mind, but I'll add it to the list. The lyrics seem pretty simple to me, but I can understand a language barrier problem. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of actually adding subtitles to my AMV's. Would adding the lyrics to the description be good enough? I could do it to all of my videos if you non-native English types think it'd help.

Double post, but it's worth it since I finished my first new AMV in forever.

This one's about the Sabaody Archipelago arc. I really tried to convey the craziness of the arc with the AMV. I had a chance to take my time with this one since I had no real deadline I wanted to get it finished by. I really wanted to put something out that was better than anything else I've done to this point. I think I did, but that's really up for everyone else to decide.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRjWwKd3A20

I had some videos get taken down. The VS videos will stay down (megaupload only now), but the other ones I'll try to reupload over the next few days.
