You know, I voted for Roger here, because I do not like Nami. She is my least favorite SH [though not my least favorite all around character by far].

I'm gonna defend her real quick- despite the fan-service switcheroo she's been stuck in these past few arcs, I really gotta stress that how Nami is dressed, and the situations she ends up in is NOT her fault. Yes, she's just a cartoon character, but her overall personality has not taken a hit. Most anime and manga feature female characters that are solely for manly enjoyment- like the entire female cast. In shows like that, people gladly look past the bouncing breasts, upskirts and ridiculously sexist predicaments to look at the character themselves, because they kinda HAVE to. Oda's headed down a cliche path with Miss Nami, and it could end up straight ruining her character, but this doesn't mean Nami will never do anything of worth ever again, and we need to dismiss her as fan fodder. Seriously- 500+ chapters, and recently she's become an obnoxious visual stereotype of manga and anime. Let's not ignore everything she's ever done because she's been relatively low-use lately.

If you're gonna dislike Nami, you should maybe do it for her personality [which is my problem], not for her shrinking waist and expanding boobs.

I voted Roger but what's with all the Nami hatred, just because her character was treated poorly in Thriller Bark it doesn't mean she won't get to be awesome like in W7 ever again.

W7? You mean the godawful fanservice Calipha fight where all logic went out the door just to get two female characters naked? Which was of course followed up the next arc with an almos-trape scene?

Nami's been nothing but naked fanservice for some time and its sickening. Her being reduced to a piece of meat far outweighs any actual moments of depth she's had where she shows that she might have grown past being a greedy money grubber. I mean seriously. THIS is a campaign?

Nami's just an object now. She was once a great character, and that great character is gone now, replaced by a half naked thing in its place.

Whereas Roger is a god of the manga, who keeps getting more and more depth, whose actions continue to reverberate and influence the world, even 22 years after his death.

Once again, I think you're overdramatizing. She hasn't been treated well recently, yes, but to say that she's "nothing but naked fanservice" is as big a disservice to her because you're writing off the good moments she still has. And I think plenty of people have posted evidence to support that she is a lot more than just "a greedy money grubber".

Again, respectfully disagree. I would dearly love to see her be less objectified, but her personality is still intact and is focused on as we saw in Shabondy when she forgave Hachi, and again when she was going to use all the money they had to buy Caimie at the auction.

Right. roger's an idea we really don't know much about. He's not a character in the same respect that Nami is, he's a plot device at this point. We know next to nothing about him, how he got to where he was, or what drove him to do what he did. He's an icon with no personality at this point. So... sort of an object.

That was Enies Lobby, not Water 7.

Water 7 was when she told Usopp not to care about the stolen money and was worried about him. When she basically was the only one who tried with all her might to keep the crew together. When she risked her life during Aqua Laguna to tell Luffy to get his shit together because Robin intends to die for them.

She was awesome in W7.

The good campaigns, that show what a well developed character Nami is, far outweigh this shit.

Nobody denies that TB and the Calipha fight have been awful for her character, but there are so many people who reduce her to those two things and ignore/forget the great moments she had before and after that.
