Hé everybody,

My name is William and I'm from Holland. Last year I became a One Piece fan, after I read the first 2 volumes of the manga. After that I heard that a German channel was going to air One Piece. I got really excited, so I decided to buy a sattelite dish, so I could watch the show. The show was great. It was really funny and I loved all the characters that were introduced. Than I read an awful thing on the net. 4Kid$ was going to buy the rights to One Piece so they could air it on the WB network. I was shocked. I mean the show is not really violent, but 4Kid$ just couldn't handle it, that's for sure. Then somewhere in november I started to hear the rumors, how they were editing the whole show into one piece of crap. Let me tell you something about the German version. They made their own opening song, which in my opinion is better than the Japanese. They keep the original names, except for some small changes:

-Monkey D. Ruffy
-Lyssop
-Lorenor Zoro

They have tiny edits, but you hardly notice it. The background music is still there. The pirates kill, drink and smoke, and no episodes are skipped. Oh yeah, and every voice suits the character really well. I thought Buggy had a really cool voice.

Are there other countries that air One Piece? If yes, did they edit the show in one way or another?

In Indonesia, they keep the blood and everything. Luffy got changed into Rufi, and the dub is not the best, but other than that, everything's fine (I think they keep the song).

Glad to see One Piece fans from another part of the globe :)

Well,we also get the Singapore dub which....stinks.
At least they kept the original BGM's and Opening's and endings.
But the voices!
And the edits!
WAARGH!

may I add a little bit changso?? they actually didn't change the op and ed songs!! I mean, the op is still 'believe in wonderland' and the ed is still umm..... don't know the title but, the clip is showing Chopper. well, at least they don't dub the songs :P and the dubber voice isn't that bad, but sometime they translated several word into a ridiculous sentence, maybe they misshear it or something?? but come on...... Robin said (when she is asked by Ussop about her speciality) uhh..... 'berkembang biak'????(--> what is the english word for this?? suddenly I forgot) what's that supose to mean??? is she some kind of bacteria?? ^^; oh and her education is 'passed high school'... -_-... OMG, that's terrible....

Oh well, I didn't really watch the dub, but at least it's not as bad as 4kids...

I recall someone mentioned that in some other country, Usopp has a Moroccan accent and says stuff like "in the name of Allah!" XD

Lol, that's something i've got to see.

They don't air One Piece here, which prompted me to buy the subs. It's imported from Hong Kong and boy is it atrocious, they changed 98% of the characters names.

Luffy = Roof
Sanji = Sunkist
Zoro = Suron
Nami = Namy (Surprisingly they just altered the I to Y).
Usopp = Crook Bu (On some occasions, Lier Boo).
Vivi = Wei Wei
Carue = Running Fast
Pell = Bell
Crocodile = Clock Dell (On some occasions, Clark Dell).
Nojiko = Lily
Arlong = Dragon

And the list goes on. :rolleyes:

Well "berkembang biak" means expanding birth??!!!
And the high school education part....I don't know what to say.
There are a few mistakes here and there but besides that,it's true to the original.

I live in holland too :D though I can't watch one piece on tv/bittorrent.

I have a good laugh when I read the chinese names (I think it was sanji's especially). Though some countries are still in the middle of some of the earlier arks so they don't exactly have all of the crews names.

erm.... i agree with you singapore VA are really crappy but what edits? they keep the blood and fighting and guns and drugs!

well, it's also in the Philippines...It airs every weekday with filipino dubs. They're quite okay, but there are some mispronounced names such as Monkey Da Luffy and Yussop. But they dont cut any scenes. The voices fits the charcters. One of the bad things is that the opening song is still the same. It is always We Are..even until skypiea (its that far!) and the ending song is always the 1st ending song, forgot the title. But there was one time that the ending song was the one when it featured robin and they looked at the night sky in the filler episodes after Alabasta. After that, it went back to the first ending song!!! Sometimes they dont even show the opening song, they dont even finish It. Thats One Piece Filipino version.

oh?? you can watch it? O_o well... it can be refer to expanding birth, but I don&#39;t think those dubbers mean it to be like that, if yes, than that&#39;s totally terible -_-... I think they tried to say... uhh... somekind like binarry reproduction of bacteria. but I don&#39;t know..... maybe &#39;procreate&#39; fits better (I don&#39;t know what this word means in indonesian, too lazy to open my dictionary :P) and as changso has said, that education is such a minimal requirements for human being, and Robin is much smarter than that, (I&#39;m offended as a Robin fan here >_<) oh, forget to mention that the reason Robin leave her hometown is because there is no higher euh... education there. I mean the highest is just highscool ^^;

but then again, at least they didn&#39;t show Smoker smoke from nothing ^^ and I should appreciate that they did show the anime, better than none :P

Can someone tell me more about the character called Robin, coz I don&#39;t understand what&#39;s everybody talking about. And what was up with Smoker in one of the dubs, couldn&#39;t he smoke?

I was wondering, how is 4Kid&#036; going to do future episodes like when Ruffy and the gang come to Loguetown and we get to see all kinds of flashbacks of Gold Rogers execution and Buggy going Berserk on top of the highground when Ruffy is stuck. And like the time when they get to Whiskey Town, are they going to call it Pineapple juice town or something? (The drinking nun still makes me laugh my ass off)

and no, it&#39;s not like Smoker can&#39;t smoke, they erase the cigar, but didn&#39;t erase the smoke came from it. you get what I mean??

In Portugal the situation is alittle strange:
the show airs at 4:00 pm&#33;&#33;&#33; (thay did that with other shows to but they allways aired them later at better hours but I still watch it at those hours until it doesn&#39;t air at better hours, first they dubbed it but now they changed to subs. :huh:
The version is the same and I don&#39;t see any name changed (they change but dischanged later :huh: : like Smoker, they changed to "Fumador" and then back to "Smoker")

I remember watching anime on AXN, and didn&#39;t even know at that time Singapore was doing the dub. Thought it was imported right out of America, silly me huh. :lol:

They also changed Princess Vivi to QUEEN Vivi.
