How long after an episode airs do we keep using spoiler tags?
Spoiler:
Same here; the 5-year timeskip was a stumbling block, but the continuation of the plot and the new team dynamic/characters have made up for it in my book. They've gotten some crazy stuff packed into the first three episodes of Invasion with 17 to go, and YJ's never had a filler episode; there's always some reason for them in the grand scheme of things. I'm expecting some serious fleshing out of the 5 years in those 17 episodes, if not some outright flashback scenes.
I'm still waiting to see Mal (Herald/Guardian/whatever he's going by) in action. Mission Coordinator is fine and good, but they're gonna need all the help they can get in this season.
I am continuously disappointed with this season and the timeskip.
Spoiler:
And I would have loved to see it all happen slowly and naturally. Using the timeskip to establish all of these things just feels like a cheap "easy way out". What is the second season of this show could have easily been the fifth season and probably work out better.
Now, the writing of this episode was good and all. Suspense and all that, but still...
Also, apparently Kid Flash will be appearing in an episode soon, along with Barry Allen and Jay Garrick. Source: http://speedforce.org/2012/05/young-justice-flashes/
At least we'll find out what happened to Wally.
Through the weekend is usually about the amount of polite time. Since not everyone catches it on actual airdate and has to wait for reruns or internet upload.
Casual things like "I really liked Superboy in this episode" you can talk about openly pretty quick, but big thingsshould pretty much stay tagged for a while.Spoiler:
Generally its until there's been two or three pages of nonstop tags, or all the regulars in the room have said they've seen it. It varies depending on the episode and how prone a series is to big developments.
Not everyone has seen the leaks, so its still courteous...
I found it interesting that...Spoiler:
I just hope people keep watching especially the people who don't like the timeskip because I feel they did it out of fear of cancellation, if you stop watching you'll give them good reason to have done this. If the show lasts 4-5 seasons they could always go back and do "lost episodes" or a tv movie special or exclusive dvd eps or something.
No, they did it because Greg Weisman likes his unorthodox storytelling techniques, and this was a an easy way to add another 20 characters to the mix while providing overarching character mysteries throughout the season.
They didn't skip the natural normal progression of character building because they were afraid they wouldn't get to this point otherwise... they did it because they thought it was the most interesting way to go and mix up the dynamics.
They're hitting up each main point of difference episode by episode. "What happened to Conner and Mggann?" Done. "Where's Aqualad?" Done. "Where's Kid Flash?" Coming up soon. They didn't raise any questions in the season starter they aren't going to answer.
We'll be used to it in a few more episodes as we settle into the status quo... its just still really jarring because they threw a lot of new information at us all at once, and it was basically a whole new series all over again, after it had *just* settled in and started finding it's groove.
There's not any official announcement anywhere. But I've followed Weisman's work since gargoyles. Its how he works. He's all about casts of thousands, different narrative techniques, and doing things to mix up the lineup. It's what makes sense given how they've handled episodes 2 and 3.

Ugh was he responsible for world tour? That was awful. Angela was terrible...
Well, at least YJ doesn't feel too messed up really. Just odd. At least they really can't do another time skip sort of thing lol. I would have perferred a story where we saw the events occur, not just hearing bits and pieces here and there to fill in gaps.
He was showrunner on Gargoyles after all, so yes, he was behind nearly all the broad strokes... but everyone on staff was responsible for it and thought it was a good idea. And the Avalon 3 parter itself, and several of the episodes during the trip were great. Angela was fine, a natural extension, and she had a development arc... the problems were
1)they didn't count on production rerunning that string of 15 episodes for almost a year rather than 2 weeks
2)they didn't realize how much the fans would miss the other half of the cast.
3)there was a lot of repetition in those episodes, and several of them were downright bad
From a world expanding viewpoint, introducing new villains, allies, plot threads, adding some hope for the fate of the gargoyle race, it was a good IDEA... just the execution and extent was handled badly. Sort of the same thing here.
The IDEA of expanding the group, progressing character arcs rapidly, and having looming catch up threads over the whole season are interesting... but just being dropped into the deep end of the pool probably wasn't the best way to do it.
Avalon woulda been fine. I would have perferred they left Angela behind. But them being on tour for so long and only one or two eipsodes showing what the Trio and Hudson were even doing was awful for me. The other Gargoyles they encountered were okay...But I didn't really care about em. And Elisa, Goliath, Angela and Bronx were my least favorite characters. I did however really like the furture tense episode because it had some really awesome animation for like half of it. But Puck trolling was amusing to me.
At any rate...to stay on topic I guess. I'm just glad that I don't think I'll have those sort of feelings about Young Justice because I didn't get to develop a real fangirl thing for any of the cast, so people missing or development getting skipped over doesn't bug me as much.
Again, if it had been done in 2 weeks as planned, it probably wouldn't stick out so bad. Not quite as bad in syndication. Stretched out over 9 months, with only 1 new episode at random every couple weeks? It really sucked. Young Justive kind of hit the exact same thing, only reversed. There was SUPPOSED to be a gap between seasons 1 and 2, and there wasn't.
A few of those eps were blatant spinoff bait, at Disney's request. And a lot of the villain regulars did manage to show up. It was just... the length of it. Along with several REALLY lousy episodes.and only one or two eipsodes showing what the Trio and Hudson were even doing was awful for me. The other Gargoyles they encountered were okay...But I didn't really care about em.
Goliath and Elisa were the leads, Bronx hardly got any focus before then, and Angela was new. The idea was fine. But they probably should have alternated, an episode or two touring, one episode back in New York with the others. At least a 2:1, or 3:1 even. The 15:1 ratio was just... no. (alternately, any given member of the trio also going on the tour could have mixed it up by romancing Angela. Or Hudson going. Really, anyone that could speak would be better than Bronx, underused or not. )And Elisa, Goliath, Angela and Bronx were my least favorite characters.
The YJ split also came earlier in the series. Gargoyles only had a main cast of 7 heroes (and 3 or 4 regular villains) and didn't hit Avalon until around episode 40... YJ has been juggling nearly a dozen leads, their mentors, guest stars, dozens of villains, and been jumping aorund the world, and then did its big shake up 26 eps in. Its just... a lot more crowded. At any rate...to stay on topic I guess. I'm just glad that I don't think I'll have those sort of feelings about Young Justice because I didn't get to develop a real fangirl thing for any of the cast, so people missing or development getting skipped over doesn't bug me as much.
