I didn't read OP back then; did people have the same concerns as now with Jinbe? Even so, it would be different because we know more or less for a "fact" that pre-timeskip Jinbe was stronger than Luffy & Co, which does make this situation different. The question is then, if atleast the monster trio has become stronger than Jinbe in these past two years.

Franky had a inconclusive fight with Luffy and did well against CP9.

Ps. why is the title of this thread last TWO nakamates? I thought whoever joins now will be the last?

Well, In the green databook (it's just a databook, i know, but Oda was said to be more involved with this one then the others) it says "his ideal crew is over 10 members large!!!". It also says the crew is currently at 9, meaning Luffy is counted, and asks if that means "at least" one more person will join. It's all kind of muddled. Also i think putting a cap on crew size way back at the start of the story, over a decade ago, is kind of weird storytelling, and it probably wasn't meant to be taken literally. So i feel nothing solidly suggests it's going be on more crew member, two more, or even more then that. Any sort of assumption in this situation seems kind of silly to me.

I think why people are against Jinbei joining even now is because they wanted someone new and fresh not someone they had already known about, to be honest I am one of the people who wouls have appreciated a new character, unfortunately all the signs point to him joining so I guess we will have to deal with it

The next crewmate should be also a character whom we saw his/her childhood memories.
for example

7.We saw Robin as a Child
8.We saw Franky as a child
9.We saw Brook when he was alive(Although not as a child though)

As far as I can see from this arc, the character which we have seen in this arc that has a Child page, or should I say the one whom which we saw his/her character as a child was Shirahoshi.
Thats the only character in this arc that we saw when she was still a little kid,, so the chance rate for shirahoshi to join straw is very high

Well if thats all it takes to get in the crew ...

I'll see your Shirahoshi and Raise you Hatchan seen as a child twice - already in the Sabondy arc wow all my arguments are now ironclad >.>

I'd argue that Croc is totally a girl in that image. Shirt totally covering the front, but showing off slender shoulders. Unlike the gruff open chest on all the other guys. Still got an earing.

It was also a lot more white in his flashback. Apparently his hair gets *darker* with age.

What are you talking about with the chest. Blackbeard, Moriah, Doflamingo, and Kuma don't have their chest showing either. And the eyes are a dead giveaway. Oda always draws girls with either plainly girly eyes, or at least eyelashes.

Anyhow, I feel Jimbei joining, while making sense in many ways (keeping up the diversity, unique brand of humor, very very honourable), also makes me a bit queasy (high bounty, too powerful to join - will disturb the power balance of the crew). Also those saying that Robin had a high bounty when she joined, it should be noted that Luffy's bounty upgrade was shown before (and I think, to justify) her joining.

Who knows, Luffy's bounty might get raised before Jinbe joins. Sentomarou already did comment on the monster trios current strength level so he might set up new bounties to reflect those.

Actually the title is right!

In Chapter 489 the title was - "The Eight" - this is the time when they recruited Brook
In chapter 439 the title was - "The 3rd one and the Seventh one" the 3rd one was Ussop because he rejoin the crew and the seventh one is Franky

In Chapter 6 the title was - "The first Crewmember" - the time Zoro joined

so there is still 9th and 10th member left,
my theory was:
9th member - Fishman/Mermaid
10th member - Giant

Middle is Crocodile I believe I can't speak Japanese and missed the image's first appearence.

Lower right is our new mate Hordy Jones as a young'un

Also the Croc was once female is actually one of the more viable theories - especially when Iva turned a male female in Impel Down and claimed he could change people back and forth.
