Even if it continue I still somehow don't want to see another "Jinbei will be part of it and may join after it" saga... Seriously no other nakama was stretched that long after their appearance... It would be like Zoro having his appearance in chapter 3 but would actually join in chappter 75... sorry... I'm really tired of this. Oda could do it much more easy and may will do it next chapter(s) but after this chapter I have my doubts... But new saga with "Will Jinbei join after this"?... please not for me... And the way Luffy reacted to it, it seems he have accepted the decision instead of the "We will help to clear your duty that you can join us"
About this arc...Same for me. I just liked the way that the SHs after 2 years constant training were completely owning there opponent... Remembered me a bit at Luffy owning Alvida as soon as he entered the ring and same for Morgan. But that is another ropic and like I said... I enjoyed the arc..
You make it sound like Vivi is a prisonerHe does give me a vibe that he's going to stay on Fishman Island. For how ever longer, who knows, but he seems determined to stay. In the meantime, it shouldn't take too long to figure out why the Log Pose doesn't work at the entrance to the New World. But, now that the battles are over, it's time for the crew to explore the island for once without being hounded by the islanders. And, as long as the crew is on the island with him, the possibility of them changing his mind is just as open. I'm still rooting that Luffy asks him again some time later in this arc, more for laughs than plot.
Exactly why it's tough to measure power levels, since none of the SHs or Jinbe needed to go to their full potential. So the current "power ranking" is all speculation at this point, but the assumption that the monster trio is still intact ought to be grounded. Oda has highlighted over again those specific three as the top tier fighters, and for Jinbe to break it up would seem illogical.
...If I sound butthurt about it, I don't mean to.

His crew are a bunch of no names except one guy, and of course reading what's written and not deciding your idea of what's written really helps

Jinbe: "I said it's impossible now! I'm really glad that you invited me!"
"It would be fun to sail the seas with you all."
"...However, I'm not ready for such a thing!!"
"There is still this current situation! The only time I may depart"
"is when I have become thoroughly free of the path of a man's duty."
"Promise to come by once more when we meet again,"
"At that time, the present mood will still be the same."
"Please invite me once more, Straw Hat crew!!!"

Jinbei: Like I said, I'm just telling you it's impossible for now. I'm really happy you guys invited me to join!

Sailing the seas with you guys would surely be fun.

I have a current position. I've just temporarily left it, that's all.

Once I've fulfilled my duty (TN: Can also mean "once I've fulfilled my moral code") and completely free

I promise I'll come meet you guys again
「その時にまだ今の気持ちのままでおってくれたなら」
If, at that time, your feelings have remained the same
「もう一度誘ってくれんか・・麦わらの一味に!!!」
Would you invite me to join again, Strawhat Crew!
CCC:
"I'm sure it would be great to go out to sea with you guys,"
"...but I've still got work to do!"
"I've got my current position. Leaving it now was only temporary."
"Once I've fulfilled my duties, as a man must,"
"I promise to come to you guys at some point."

^ My qualm is with the line just before the one you've bolded.
To kind of quote Nekketsu:
*3 days later*
Jinbe: Hey guys I'm ready now. Do you still feel the same way about me? Has your "mood" changed?"
Luffy: Hmm... I don't know now. We're kind of over you.
Nonsense
Point being- the feeling/mooding changing line has long-term implications. That's not something you say when there's even a remote possibility that whatever you need to do might be wrapped up in a matter of days.

things are usually long term until the main character shows up, but your right it may not be this arc, I just figured most of the fishman island stuff would be done on the arc corresponding with it, I'm still under the impression it has a long way to go, I'm expecting Big Mama or one of her top generals to come, could very well be wrong
but I'm certain this chapters made it clear he will join the crew at one point or another

Exactly. I think this is probably that "something" I mentioned earlier that made the whole monologue feel to me that it's not something that's going to blow over in a couple of days, but couldn't quite pin down. And to have yet another arc with Jimbei instantly, that just doesn't feel very likely either to me. My vibe is that this is what we get. Oda certainly put Jimbei together with the crew enough times for a joining to feel just right, he put him in the battles, the spreads, the finishers and what have you. My own disappointments aside he also seemed to try and make FI epic and showy, all the way from Luffy passing out to the party to the arc being nearly 50 chapters long. It feels like a full arc to me. But then he kind of killed the mood with Jimbei. If it's resolved before they leave the island, that'd be alright. But if it's not, I feel like Jimbei joining becomes a lot more unlikely or at least it will never be the same as it could have. Does anyone really think that if this momentum just stops dead now and Jimbei poofs into the story again some 100 chapters later it'd be nearly as good as if he joined up now? I just can't feel that... it'd kinda suck, actually.Point being- the feeling/mooding changing line has long-term implications. That's not something you say when there's even a remote possibility that whatever you need to do might be wrapped up in a matter of days.
Me too, but also applied to all the bits I didn't get to. Just glancing at the chapter thread gives me knots in my stomach. Oh, sorry for taking your post out of context.
Yep, another encounter in Jinbe's context refers to a long-term wait. I highly doubt the crew will stay there for another year or so. Besides, even the Marines suspect that the crew is going to arrive in the New World some time soon. <- still hyped for another encounter with top Marine forces, if not MF v.2
Edit: For those clamoring about the potential strengths of the crew, the new Marine HQ is a great place to start off the New World scene. The battles here were simply the warm-up. (I hope there will be an admiral to face then, but I suspect that a fight with an admiral won't come so soon, so maybe these fights will be against vice admirals.)

When you stop to think about it, it kind of makes sense.
Jinbe's current bounty is over 400 million, if Luffy goes to the New World while Jinbe is doing his duty, his reputation will raise and his bounty at some point will be higher than Jinbe's, and same goes for Zoro and Sanji.
I'm certain that when the bounties of the Monster Trio have surpassed Jinbe's, then it will be the appropiate time, when the three will be stronger than him too.
Genius, Oda.
Jinbe saying ""If at that time you still feel the way you do now, invite me once more, Strawhat crew" is very similar to Vivi's "If we should meet again at some point, would you still take me as your nakama?"
But Oda could solve that by simply displaying a new Luffy 500m (or whatever) bounty poster to us. I can't belive something as trivial as that would even be a contributing reason at all if Jimbei doesn't join now.

You guys should remember one key factor about Jinbe and thats his over the top personality "I'll do this even if it costs me my life!" whats to say that his duty is only minor ,like for instance finding a purpose for the remainder of the Sun Pirates ,he feels he's responsible for all of them but all it would take is wise words from Neptune or even better Aladdin to release him from his Duty that people assume will take til the end of the story to accomplish.
Basically Oda can pull a Franky at any point in the following chapters.
"The Night Is Dark And Full Of Terror"
I don't think it's a problem of bounty, I think it's a problem of reputation.
Jinbe is famous around the world, but the crew has never been in the New World. When they finally are there and have made themselves a name, I think it will be then when Jinbe will catch up to them and join.
He should give them a Vivre Card, don't you think?
@Blowfish, Enough is enough, he's not joining at the end of the arc.
But Robin was still more infamous than Luffy when she joined. At least from a global perspective she definitely was. Besides, again, Sentoumaru has already reported their mighty comeback to MHQ which should warrant a raise and we saw at the Sabaody chapters how ridiculously infamous Luffy has already become. Grandson of Garp + son of Dragon + sworn brother of the Pirate King's son already puts him beyond Jimbei I'd say in terms of infamy, but I guess that's debatable.
