Did not care for the recent episode, though I liked parts with Tahno.
It is nice that they finally explained the pro bending rules, and how a team can win a "best of 3" in the third round even if they lose the first two. Full team knockouts count for a total victory, apparently.
Poor Bolin
But was a nice change of pace for the series which had mostly been plot plot plot so far, so this was nice to see.
I'm fairly concerned about the pacing of the series considering it was initially planned to be only 12 episodes before it got expanded.
I liked the episode, but honestly, Korra sudden total KO felt dumb.
Also, I'm surprised there isn't more of an objection to Korra playing pro bending, considering
a) She's supposed to be on the task force
b) She's a gifted bender from birth by dint of being Avatar
and c) what if, for some reason, she were to go Avatar State in the middle of a match? I'm not saying that would happen, I'm saying that would be a fear some people might have,
I think the Korra Is Simply amazing. The art style, the newly improved fighting Scene. It's is Awesome
It was supposed to be tightly plotted to be a 13 episode arc. So, it'll be fine. Means no filler, which is a mixed blessing. At least it means no episodes like "The Divide" or "The Beach" or "The Painted Lady". Also means no Cave of Two Lovers, however.
Season 2, episode 14-26 will be a different arc entirely. So it remains to be seen if Amon will be the over-threat, or if he's just for this first story.
No matter what, its going to be a smaller more intimate series.
She'd joined the team before the task force.
She had to train to hone her abilities, just like anyone else. And they put the restriction that she can only use water in matches. Her natural affinity only goes as far as being ABLE to do elements from a young age, it doesnt equate to training or being good at the sport. She got beaten royally the first time she played, and did really badly in the most recent episode too when her mind is not on the game.b) She's a gifted bender from birth by dint of being Avatar
Just being the avatar doesn't inherantly make bending ability insane... just gives access to all the elements. And the avatar state, and THAT has crazy ability.
Most people probably don't even know about the avatar state. And given that it hasn't even been mentioned in the show yet, (When Aang had done it like 4 times in his first 5 episodes) means that Korra probably doesn't activate it much, or at all. No one had to tell her "watch that temper with the avatar state" or anything. Plus she got properly trained and embraced it from a young age, while Aang did his best to avoid it.and c) what if, for some reason, she were to go Avatar State in the middle of a match? I'm not saying that would happen, I'm saying that would be a fear some people might have,
I think it's funny that a lot of fangirls are drooling over Tahno's voice, when everyone originally thought he'd be this foppish pretty boy. Which he still is, I guess, but damn that's a deep voice.
I don't think she can access it yet. They've said she's got like zero spiritual ability, so she hasn't been able to tap into the spirit world.
Good point. Still, the show hasn't even mentioned the avatar state, its obviously not as big a concern for her as it was for Aang who unleashed it whenever he got even a little angry.
Interesting if the spirituality aspect is the big factor for that... could give them a subtitle for the second season since this one is Air.
She did. (And unwillingly) Episode 4 was all about that and she skipped practices for weeks and had a showdown with Amon that... ended badly.
Now they're in finals, which only last a couple days apparently, and her priority is on that instead. Not a huge conflict.
But look at it from the perspective of the public. The Avatar is supposed to be routing the equalists and restoring balance; the entire city is scared of Amon. I understand it from Korra's point of view, but you'd think most people would be pretty upset that their champion is putting her time and effort into something frivolous like pro bending.
I'm pretty sure if a national league soccer game or something was cancelled for whatever reason, the fans would riot.
yeah okay she should just be out there by herself 24/7 searching for secret meeting places of a secret organization that have kicked her ass, but that's okay
dude, she's the task force beef, not intelligence. they call her when they have an attack planned, but obviously there's going to be a lot of down time because Amon is not an idiot and is apparently good at being a ninja and shit
