Hmm. Someone did an interesting analysis of all the flashback scenes we've seen so far with predictions:
    http://birdbrainblue.tumblr.com/post...the-flashbacks

There's also a "Tarrlok is Amon's brother" theory out there, which I could also see as possible.

    asglfdtdzuzupoippsadfadas!

This episode was... I'm speechless. Just a big fat WOW.

    Spoiler:
Tarrlock being a bloodbender. I didn't see that coming. And another flashback! Poor Toph and Sokka...

Seven days... seven more days till the next episode...

    NONONO NEVERNEVERNEVER.

    Spoiler:
To Sokka dying, that is. I'm cool about the Tokka pairing thing, LOL. This Yakone thing was 42 years ago...how old is Lin again?

But I don't want the non-bender meat and sarcasm guy to go down by some psycho bloodbender. If he couldn't die of old-age/natural causes I'd want him to die a warrior's death and going down fighting, not just having his body twisted into a pretzel until he snapped.

I do agree with that theories Satsuki posted though; maybe it's a combination of the two?

i dont want to read theories, they are either just false hopes or spoilers in disguise

better to wait and tend to my own personal theories

I'm sorry, the only thing I could focus on during the flashback was Aang's rockin' beard.

Tenzin's pointy finger is really badass... The suspense sure is killing.
    Spoiler:

For fucks sake man! When are those two council members gonna think for themselves? How did they even... ARGH It isn't like Avatar to have this important characters to be such wet blankets! And Tarrlok... Dammit. Is he trying to create chaos because he wants revenge at the city or something? I mean if he wants back at Aang then why would he do this to the city? Gotta read that theory up there...

i was totally thinking satsuki's theory myself. That's why he got so mad when Korra used Amon as comparison. And no. killing Tarlok would have made things worse.

oh this show is just cruel. how can they leave us a whole week wondering. damn, I've been waiting since the show started for korra to make a connection to the spirit world and each week is just more agonizing. specially when they keep egging us on with snippets. Next week show. next week. you show us. i mean it!

oh ya. I was also waiting for Lin to break in at the last minute all vigilante style and save korra. what u up 2 while all this goin down lin? *wonders if the next episode will be a holmes and watson / lin and tenzin thing goin*

There's a theory on that too, even if not totally serious...

    Spoiler:
Some have suggested that Tarrlok has control over the other members of the council via his bloodbending. Perhaps he's threatened them with it in the past, but held off on Lin/Tenzin considering their respective parentage and his own plans.

But hell, who knows exactly what bloodbenders are capable of, really; we've only seen it once before, and it's obvious things are already different this time around (no full moon required anymore!) Maybe Tarrlok's found a way to affect people's very minds using bloodbending...*shudders*

A friend of mine pointed this out to me, and I do have to say that this is some heavy shit:

    Spoiler:
You know what I'd love? If instead of just another power hungry guy or someone conspiring with Amon, they made Tarrlok a bending suprememcist. Eugenics and Social Darwinism were both very popular ideas in the 1920/30s, and it would make sense that there would be people in the Avatar world who think benders are simply meant to have power over nonbenders, especially now that the old systems of government seem to be melting away.

    Yeah.

    Spoiler:

Thank you for that, really, because OOOHHH I'M SO PISSED ABOUT IT! Tarlok (Tarrlok/tarlock/euhh) may be undercover-bad but it's like they are the grey zone in between the two T's but not really, like just following the one who is most demanding or something like puppets and allows everything hjklj... Sorry, I kinda hope this holds water even if it does sound rather grotesque... but interesting. Imagine being a prisoner for that. Damn! *shudders as well*

    Yeah.

I've been assuming it was that way...Never really thought about it, but it sounds good.

That was a nice ending. I didn't guess Tarlock's role in the story, and I was pleasantly surprised when it was revealed. If only I had the will to not look at spoilers.

    Spoiler:
From the next episode description, Korra is going to try to piece together her flashbacks while Tenzin and Lin team up to find the lost metalbenders. I really liked this episode but the premise of next episode sounds incredible, especially with this episode's cliffhanger.

I like the theory Satsuki posted about the Red Monsoons, especially since I feel like the gangs in Republic City have been underutilized in the story.

The theory did bring up some good points though. Was all the bloodbending done by one person? Or is bloodbending something that has become more common? Even with the possible ways to counter it, bloodbending does seem extremely powerful as a tool for evil.

Just watched the episode. The ending was surely amazing.
    Spoiler:
Tarlock is totally a dictator and now that he got rid of Korra, the avatar, Tenzin wil have no means to use his influence in the city' decisions, it'll be just a matter of time until Tarlock get rid of him too.
    Lin's everyone hope right now.

Show has really kicked it into gear and found its own voice in the last few episodes. I rescind most of my complaints.
