- a message from past taboo to future taboo
Some cool Avatar: The Legend of Korra news from ASN:
- A while back, before TLOK had premiered, series co-creator Bryan Konietzko started a tumblr page where he's been posting production art and other interesting things. And now, the other series co-creator, Michael Dante DiMartino has joined him andstarted a tumblr page of his own!
- Chris Farley on the Wall Street Journal's "Speakeasy" blog has an interview with Mike and Bryan where they talk about the season finale, the tragic event that happened to Lin Beifong in episode 110, and the appearance of the new General Iroh. There will be a Part 2 to this interview.
- PJ Byrne, the voice of Bolin, had an interview with Comics Alliance a few days ago.
- Byrne, along with David Faustino (the voice of Mako) and Janet Varney (the voice of Korra) will be answering questions from the fans on the MTV Geek's Twitter which started yesterday.
- After the TLOK finale, Nicktoons will be airing a special called Korra: Making a Legend, from July 9 to July 20. During that time, all twelve episodes of the first season of The Legend of Korra will air every weeknight at 9pm (ET/PT) along with commentary from series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
- Variety has announced that the Legend of Korra panel at San Diego Comic Con will be on Friday, July 13, and will feature co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko along with Janet Varney, David Faustino, PJ Byrne, Seychelle Gabriel (the voice of Asami) and Andrea Romano (voice director). Mike adds that Joaquim Dos Santos will also be there, and that there will be a signing later in the same day.
That Bryke interview makes me a bit nervous. Not sure it's a good thing that they have storyline ideas past Book Two when they're not sure if Book Three will ever happen.
Having ideas for content afterward is fine, they find outlets after all.
Its only a problem if they end a season on a cliffhanger they can't actually wrap, or without finishing the story of that season.
After watching dozens of cartoons that got cancelled with loose ends, I don't quite mind. But this time? I dunno.
Reception from fans through ratings and the internet has changed dramatically since then. There's alot fan input can do that can prevent cancellation, especially if I'm assuming Season 2 is a hit.
I've already had issues with the flow/pacing of this season, and I suspect that's due to the addition of 14 episodes after they had the original plan. Figured I could at least count on it improving with a designated endpoint next season.
The panel at SDCC will more than likely provide more information on whether or not they plan to continue after Book 2.
Considering their ratings situation as of late, can Nickelodeon really afford not to get as many seasons of Avatar as they possibly can?
"Man walks down the street in that hat,
people know he's not afraid of anything."
"Damn straight."
The reason for the poor pacing is that they had these episodes made before they ever got an order for more episodes, so they had to cram a seasons wort of content into 12 episodes. Had their original order been 22 episodes, you can bet we wouldn't have had these pacing issues and that all the characters would be much more three dimensional.
We'd also probably have a couple filler episodes.
Next season will definitely be better, and the fact that their looking into a third season means we won't have to worry about it being frantically paced.
Well, actually, it's a bit of speculation that I've been curious about since Katara beat Hama. It's just, the question suddenly became relevant to the plot of Lok. lol
That's what I was thinking. But, it could also be implied that she bloodbended Hama instead of herself... hmm

I think this may have been posted before but just in case it's a interview with Bolin's VA P.J. Byrne
That is the big Q&A.IGN: I know you can’t say too much, but you’ve got the hour-long season finale coming up this weekend, can you give us a general sense of what’s in store for Bolin going into Season 2?
Byrne: What can I say? Okay, another copout, but the finale is going to be an epically fun episode. Obviously, a lot of stuff is going to be revealed, like whose character is who, what’s the history of what, is someone going to live or die or are they not going to make it. But yes, Bolin’s character, as I say a lot, he does grow. He gets older but stays true to his happy-go-lucky persona. He’s the guy that you want in your camp when things get low and people are feeling down. This is the guy that’s going to be like, “We can do this, we can do this. We can win!” But I feel like we all do that for each other, too. Mako does it for me, I do it for Korra, we’re all constantly helping each other out. If one person’s down, we’re lifting each other up, and I think that will always be a consistent theme throughout this series.
The part bolded is what gets me I'm not sure if he is referring to Bolin's age hinting at season two being after a small (or maybe larger) timeskip or Bolin's maturity. I'm pretty sure it's his maturity.

Just letting you know.
That fake image has been around since episode 5 or 6. Maybe way before that.
But if it's a real leak, I'd lose my shit.
It's just so.... stupid to be true.
More info on the Korra panel from the man himself.
