Anyway, the time honored "Internationalized shinigami" discussion has surfaced again I see. I remember liking the ideas of Luchador shinigami o Drunken fist chinese shinigami the last time around, but Knight and gunslinger shinigami remain as popular as ever.

How long has Soul Society been around? Can it really have been around since the dawn of humankind? Somehow I doubt it. What if it were an artificially created afterlife? That would be kind of a cool concept; somewhere down the line humans grew spiritually aware enough to construct their own afterlife in lieu of a natural one.

Obviously, somewhere a long the lines, once they evolved from clubs and stone and got some swords, they decided they evolved enough, and they didn't need guns or any new afterlife weapons.
