Toss up between Mario, Link and L. Mario is a classic, I've become addicted to Zelda games via land of the Minnish (such a packed game for a nintendo game and oh so clever at every step) and L is epic.

In my opinion, Enter the Gecko was the best entry, but being voiced by Dana Gould really brought some personality to the character compared to how in most of the games back then didn't have the characters talking during gameplay for the exception of when they got hurt.
