Spectacular Spiderman was the best Spiderman cartoon ever, (probably the best iteration of the franchise in ANY medium in the last 30 years) and its going to be nigh impossible to top.

So of course it was cancelled after 26 episodes.

While the 90's cartoon ran for years and years. There is no justice.

I completely agree, and it's not like it ends on a good note either as it ends on a total cliffhanger with tons of mysteries still left unexplored for season 3. You know, I seriously think that if I was granted omnipotence and reality warping powers, un-canceling this would be top 5 in my to-do-list.

Unfortunately Spectacular Spider-Man was just caught up in the latest wave of transformation in the animation industry, where the networks are off limit due to educational crap and even regular cable channels rather have their own produced shows and a lot of stupid stuff, forcing them onto the smaller cable stations. Compared to that, the 90s X-Men and Spiderman series...heck, even "X-Men Evolution", had it easy due to being around when even Saturday mornings still mattered. Now we can get decent shows like the CGI IM series, Wolvie and the X-Men and Avengers...but they've been reduced to the likes of Nicktoons and Disney XD, which luckily many cable systems have but are not going to be as major as where they used to be. (thank goodness for the internet and web streaming, or else I wouldn't have been able to see the end of this Avengers season)

Yeah. It also got screwed by the timing of Disney buying Marvel. Unfortunate, how that works.

Slowpoking here, but catching up with this series (currently on This Hostage Earth) and damn if I don't love it to bits. The cameos and namedrops from the other heroes only adds to the experience.

And you can bet that I'm looking forward to Season 2:

seen 20 or so of the season 2 eps, so it's on it's way. S2 starts with a little tale called 'The Private War of Doctor Doom.'
