Thread: The Nintendo Wii/3DS/Wii U Thread

If that's true, I'd really want that deal to go through. Microsoft hasn't really been doing much with Rare as of late (they make the Kinect Sports games now, right?), and I can't think of any games that Rare's made since the switch to Microsoft which match up to the quality of their SNES and N64 days (Nuts and Bolts was fun, but it really didn't feel like a Banjo game).

Speaking of Chibi Robo. I think that was one of the latter ones. But I never knew there was a DS game released over here
Amazing Island - great monster-creator engine, slightly-pointless minigames. Think Spore, but less overly-hyped, and admittedly not as robust.

Billy Hatcher - it's alright. Fun enough, I'd give it like a 6.5/10 on an honest scale. Worth 5 bucks.

if you don't have it for another system, Cel Damage and LotR: Return of the King. The former is one of my favorite multiplayer games ever, cartoon vehicular combat, the latter is a good hack-n-slash, and fun co-op. Oh, also Spiderman 2. Best movie-to-game adaption ever, webslinging around New York is chicken noodle video game soup for my soul.

Pokemon Channel is like a guilty pleasure to me, I find it tranquil and adorable, while I understand if others find it mind-numbingly dull.

I also would ask you to give Lost Kingdoms (or its sequel) a chance, I rented it once and really liked it, but somehow never found it to buy. I should get on that...

Custom Robo is incredible. Absolutely godlike. Great multiplayer, great story mode, and you will hate the final boss with all of your being because he's such bullshit. but play it anyway.

Gamecube is my favorite system, so I'd glad to see another person diving into its library.

Didn't get Return of the King however I did pick up The Third Age (or something like this) which seems to be an RPG based on the series. Might be fun enough.

Started on P.N.03. By god it's one of the most amazingly fun games ever. It feels like an arcade game but also a 3rd person shooter. It's more about combos and points than going through. I recommend anyone to pick it up.

Amazes me how much quality titles there are by Capcom on this system and era and how most of these titles have fallen to the way-side :/

It looks like Nintendo Europe is starting to release the Kid Icarus AR cards in stores. Panini will be releasing them.

Huh, there's Panini in Europe? I never would have imagined that, thought it was a South America thing. They mostly just sold sticker albums.

So do they also have a thing for sticker albums over there?

Geez. I finally decided that I wanted to upgrade my 3DS....

only to find nowhere has actually got any stock in for it yet except for Game....who only do it in bundles. This was pretty much my conversation with them.

Me: Have you got any 3DS XLs in?
Them: Tons but we are only doing it as a bundle with a game. You can have Mario or Kid Icarus and it's £200
Me: I already own them two. How about Metal Gear or Mario Tennis?
Them: Oh no it's only them two. But you can buy the bundle and sell us back the game to put towards buying those?
Me: Fair enough. How much are you buying then for?
    Them: £10.
Me:....yeaaah. That means I'm paying £190 for a console that should be £180.
Them: Well we can't sell it seperately because we only have bundle packs left.
    Me: Ok. I'll go elsewhere.

Honestly. You can see why Game are struggling.

Didn't have much of a problem myself. Traded in my aqua blue one for £100 off, they didn't say anything about bundle garbage, but I was there crack of dawn on the saturday since I knew I'd have to go there twice(system transfer at home in between).

But game are garbage. Honestly, all they need to do to up their competitiveness is:

    -Hire gamers only
    -Have staff recommendations
-Have a cabinet full of retro games(like gamestation used to) - it means some people will go there every week just so they don't miss out on something good
    -Hold tourneys
-Make their useless website somewhat useable

    never happen though

I would add 'start stocking more obscure games' to that list too. But either way it's very rare that they actually stock anything new like a JRPG or anything. Their game selection is a ton worse than Grainger Games' which is a smaller company overall. No idea why they were bailed out. They started doing things right when in trouble (competitive prices, some nice deals etc) and then once bailed out they kinda just went back to their same old ways. I predict they'll be in the same position in a few months anyways.

Anywho. Got mine today. Loved the idea of using Pikmin to do the data transfer.

The XL has been looking more tempting to me lately than it was when first announced. Not going to actually consider upgrading anyway until I get to A) actual hold and try one out for myself, to get a feel for the size and newer, bigger, and supposedly better screen, and B) they come out with some better colors. Not digging the red and blue we're getting over here in NA; I'd want to at least wait for the silver one Europe's getting, if not some darker gray or black one further down the line.

Is there a notable difference in 3D with the XL? Not that it'll be the deciding factor of whether I get one or not, but I'd like to think I could see Hyrule in the distance in 3D on a bigger screen.

That's why I'm withholding judgement until I get to actual hold and try one out for myself. Some say the 3D effect works better and has a wider "sweet spot," some say it causes ghosting more easily, some say the bigger screen makes things noticeably more pixelated, some say it just makes them a little softer... who knows?

The review for NSMB2 is out on IGN
    http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/...-bros-2-review

Frankly, it reflects precisely all of my concerns about it. I think I'll pass on it and instead replay the first one for the DS.

Don't know why you would personally when NSMB Wii is the better game.

No the original NSMB was better than the Wii one. I'm still gonna get it because it's mario and it gives me something new to play on the plane

I agree with you, but the problem is I gave my Wii to my brother. My main system right now is my 3DS, so the original DS NSMB will have to do.

Also, I considered getting it, but considering I'm still having fun with Kid Icarus I think I'll be good until Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario arrive, both of which I plan on getting.

So this is what the Wii U boxes might look like

    Spoiler:

    http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=182746

The yellow lining is weird, but I like it. It's reminiscent of the GC style. Was expecting Blu-Ray sized cases, though.

Here's with the spine and case itself:

    Here's another one from Gamestop:

Hm, I hope the cases are transparent. That usually looks nicer, imo.
