My new mantra for the next 4 months: I will not look at the clip, I will not look at spoilers. I will not look at the clip, I will not look at spoilers...
I will, however, take a 5x7 foot print of that poster to go please. *adds to my birthday wish list*
New Brave tv spot. 29 seconds, all quick cut footage that was in the previous trailers... but some pretty celtic singing over it, that I assume will be the end credits theme. Creates a mood, at least.
Hidden:
It is interesting that they aren't going wacky over the top "From the studio that brought you..." with these. Trying for a different mood and feel, I guess.
Japanese trailer:
Hidden:
Soooo much better than the US one, it actually makes me want to watch the movie.
How to Train Your Dragon was the same way. :/
(it was Dreamworks, but yeah)
この世に悪があるとすればそれは人の心だ。
SUBTITLES
I need subtitlessss
My god, this looks so amazinggg. I can't wait to see it hakl;ghak;
edit: Found some!
Spoiler:
The japanese trailer might be better, but its also waaaaay the hell more spoilery. I had to stop it 40 seconds in when it became clear it was going to be showing a *lot* of stuff the american trailers haven't and was going to start giving away plot points.
The difference looks like the american trailers are promoting it like a comedy using only about 5 minutes of total footage without giving anything away (IE, what worked for Tangled and UP) ... the japanese trailers are promoting it like a Ghibli film using the entire movie.

We should probably consider ourselves lucky that it was Brave and not Braver or Bravest.
Incidentally, I'm amazed Wreck-it Ralph hasn't been retitled "Game" yet.
I just don't like the fact that they change titles of movies to make it more appealing to people. I can understand it since not everyone here knows what brave means, especially children. But i still prefer the original title.
At least "Brave" tells you something about the movie. "Merida" is just the name of the main character. Awesome ...
Interesting that you say that, (cultural differences(?) when everyone else feels its the other way around. "Merida: Legend of Highlands" tells you waaaay more than "Brave".
Besides, its within tradition for Disney fliks to use the main fairytail name and that throws it right into the likes of Snow White, Pinnochio, Cinderella, Aladdin, Mulan, andTangledRapunzel. Or Princess Mononoke, Rambo, Oprah. Being the character name *elevates* it, saying "this is a classic for the ages, you will all know this name and associate it with this, that's how strong the character and the story is"
'Brave' is as generic as it gets and can apply to... any movie.
"Bear and the Bow" is still the best and most Fairy Tale like.
For me the title "Brave" tells me that bravery is a central point in the movie. The main character either has to prove himself or his/her bravery because it is important to the culture/family/background or that someone has to find the strength to do something or has to stand up to something. Of course it could have to do with anything, but i find more meaning in it than in "Legend of Highlands", which just tells me it is a legend in some highlands. Although the Scottish Highlands are the first that'd come to my mind. Then again, i guess more Germans know what "Brave" means than what Highlands are.
I wish i could elaborate more but my English is not that advanced ...
Don't get me wrong, i don't think Brave is a great title for a movie either. But i'd personally prefer it.
But maybe it's just because it's an english title and English always sounds more "cool" than German. :D
