Thread: Do any scanlators use the CBR format?

Default Do any scanlators use the CBR format?

I've been recently downloading and reading comics in as CBR (I assume it stands for something along the lines of "comic book reader") files, which is essentially a bunch of jpeg images compiled into one file. CDisplay, the program I use to read CBRs, is a handy application that allows me to view the pages of the book in "fullscreen" mode, using my keyboard to navigate down the page.

I find it more convenient than downloading the images through zips, as the Windows program that lets me view images has poor navigation features and doesn't have a legitimate fullscreen option. It's also better than reading comics online, because I don't have to wait on my dodgy wifi connection or deal with internet ads.

So, are there any scanlators out there that use CBR?

I guess no, but you can use Picasa, a nice image viewer from google. ;)

    I'm a scanlator and I release rar/zip files.
The point is that someone could prefear the default window's viewer.
But you can easily download CDisplay and use it on your own, it's a free software, just google it.
It reads comics from directory and zip/rar/tar files, it's very usefull. I use it too!
There's some good in this world... and it's worth fighting for!

And you still can use cdisplay to view jpg files: just put a single chapter into a folder and open it with the program....

I have also came across the sane problem. But when I came to know that we can rename .zip file to .cbz and .rar to .cbr. I was shocked that I did not know such a small thing. Now I am clear. I hope you also understood the thing.

You don't even need to rename it... just right click the CBR file and "open with" cdisplay.
