Isn't it about $500 just for a regular 360 with the Kinect anyways?

400 with Kinect and 250GB. 300 without Kinect and 250GB.

Not too sure, though. Could be wrong. I don't remember it being 500, though.
This was a stupid sig anyway

$499 is a waste of money for a current gen console. You can get a 360 much cheaper, this is merely for the hardcore SW geeks and collectors.

Same can be said about most special edition stuff. Why bother paying more when you can just have the regular edition for cheaper? (or the special edition cheaper if you wait a month or two)

I don't really have to worry about spending too much money concerning my video gaming needs. Anime adventure and platforming is all I need to worry about to satisfy myself. The fact that most of the games out today deal with guns and booze and explosions ensures that it's much easier for me to pick out what I want.

I knew I shouldn't have responded with obvious sarcasm. No one would've recognized it.

Its only sarcasm if you're actually being sarcastic.

That you have Sonix X avatar and sig says that you lack this tone in your repetoir.

Sonic SatAM would reveal you to have taste.
Adventures of Sonic would show you to be a child of the 90's full of nostalgia and love.
Sonic Underground would get you some sarcasm and irony cred.

    But Sonic X?

I was definately being sarcastic when I said it must be something good. I'm fully aware that when I'm online and on a forum I'm not going to find many people who like the show, especially not here. It's one of those things where I figured if people were here to just talk and have fun than why not express myself the way I want instead of the way others want me to. You know, that whole after-school special bullshit and what not.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what inspired that intense of a reaction from whoever that was. Maybe he was just bored. I dunno.

Apparently MW3 holds the record for Activision's highest-preordered game now in their 21 years as a gaming publisher.

Just when I thought the trend was dying.

Meh the market is oversaturated with MW esque games. I doubt the trend will continue much longer before everyone else becomes sick of them and the don't sell nearly as well as they used to.

Y'know, like with what happened to rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Although unlike those I'm willing to bet games like Call of Duty will still stick around.

Considering how loyal and ignorant the more vocal fanbase is, how they tend to refuse to play anything that's not COD or Madden or yearly sports game (don't get me wrong, I love NBA2K), and how overblown the hype and perceived coolness of playing COD is, I'd say, unfortunately, they're gonna be sticking around for a long time.

I tried showing Battlefield to a COD fan who happened to be a friend of mine. He downright refused to play it, saying it sucked. That's all I hear from these people. IT SUCKS. Some have yet to play or even see the game and they dismiss it due to their undying loyalty to the COD franchise.

I don't mean to bitch here, but my problem with COD is not so much its fanbase or its constant rehashes, but its damage to the industry. You have all these great video games releasing around Fall and the holidays that get overlooked and just don't sell a lot thanks to COD's massive hype and marketing. Madden and other annual sports games don't get shit for it because they just don't sell as much. Not to mention it's the only game that gets passes for being rehashed every year and somehow manages to be an AAA-rated game, scores mostly inflated by hype.

I've yet to see a COD fan argue the Madden point.

it's the same with every game however with them. The amount of people's reviews I've seen from people who have literally used the words 'This isn't as good as Call of Duty' and then little to back it up. And I'm not talking just about war FPS games here. Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock 2, Fallout New Vegas, L.A Noire, Metroid: Other M, Pokemon Black And White, Kirby: Epic Yarn. I recall all of them having it.

It's just ridiculous. But I guess it's the same way a lot of people will buy every Mario, Zelda, Halo, Final Fantasy etc. Just buying cus of the name.

Wow, then you must have read some shitty reviews because I haven't seen any that bad.

The difference with Mario, Zelda, and maybe even Halo is that they don't rehash a game every single year. (Besides Halo 3 and ODST, although they were 2 years apart.) Mario has had 4 main games over the past course of, what, 13, 14 years? Hell, Halo's main games (1, 2, 3, Reach) were all done within 3 years each. (I didn't include FF because I've yet to play any game, it does have a shitload of games but from what I've seen they have changes so I'll give it that)

Maybe some would say that the Battlefield series, a war FPS that's arguably the best in the genre, is an annualized franchise, as well. The thing is, they actually change the game every new installment. Obviously core gameplay won't change, just like every other game (to this day Mario's all about platforming and jumping, Zelda's all about slashing and item-using, etc.) It's depressing seeing how such a great FPS doesn't sell as much because it doesn't have the name COD in it.

Hell even with Treyarch working on COD one year and Infinity Ward working on COD the other I've yet to encounter any significant changes or improvements in the games. I'll be fair, COD 4 was the best COD I've ever played. And possibly the last good COD game.

What do you know, as I typed this I found:
    http://ps3life.nl/nieuws/9912-nieuwe-call-of-duty-van-treyarch-ontdekt-genaamd-project-iron-wolf/

A member of the forum showed today se7ensins some interesting pictures. He and his friend because someone from Treyarch (developers of Black Ops) in his friends list.Recently saw him play a game they had never seen.

This employee was in fact a Treyarch game playing called Iron Wolf. This is anyway Treyarch Call of Duty 9 where soon one year doing. The word is probably Iron Wolf, but a code name in the future will be changed with a different subtitle. When they went to look for other Treyarch employees were also coincidentally or not playing Iron Wolf.

They have also taken some pictures as proof.

    Spoiler:

Oh well, I suppose that's just simple supply and demand. I just think it's depressing how consumers justify spending 60 dollars on a rehashed game every single year and treat it as the Second Coming, and SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LAST ONE OMG then a few months later OMG THE LAST ONE WAS BETTER FUCK THIS only to repeat a never-ending vicious cycle.

I haven't played a COD, and I don't plan to. I ain't supporting what it's doing. My older brother is part of the problem, he lets his niece and nephew (who are kids) play it cause they don't get to play games at all. YOU INTRODUCED THEM TO GAMING THE WRONG WAY, YOU FOOL!

Mario isn't necessarily the best example because the 3d games and 3d games aren't that similar beyond just being platformers that take place in the same universe (with the likely exception of the upcoming 3ds mario). 2d mario games are far more linear, use powerups as part of the health system, and had a one level is one level type of thing going on, whereas 3d mario games have far more exploring, use a life bar, and usually have you doing different missions in the same level. Not to mention jumping on enemies to kill them is far more prevalent in 2d mario games.
In regards to things like CoD always being the same game, I feel like there are a few major problems. One is the a year a game thing not giving you time to recover. Another is genre dependent in that some genres like shooters are more defined by core gameplay elements with little room for further innovation, so if you can't change the core gameplay its extremely difficult to do anything that will feel new or different. Series like Mario and Zelda can get away with using core gameplay mechanics again and again with only small changes because the core gameplay is a means to an ends. Those series are far more dependent on level design and the stage itself which will challenge you to think of how you want to use the core elements. I'm not going to say level design is irrelevant in shooters, but I feel like for those its far more about skill with the core gameplay mechanics and figuring out how to take advantage of the level design so you can use the core skills the same ways in different levels rather than about the level itself.
