That's the new Alan Moore comic, right? Didn't have a chance to read it, but I hope it'll be good. As I understand it, Moore is reviving some old british heroes (with his own unique twist, of course).Originally Posted by Akumashogun

Seems like a less-interesting Jack Staff XD Thanks to this, Jack Staff can no longer have the Spider, the Steel Claw, or other British heroes =( (or at least call them by their actual namesOriginally Posted by Green Hair

Seriously, Alan Moore's only plotting, his daughter and son-in-law are doing most of the writing, so that may be why its not that good.
Speaking of Alan Moore, I wonder if that Alan Moore-less Top 10 will be any good. I've heard bad and somewhat good things about it, but I'll still probably buy it. I'm a sucker for those hidden jokes and parody versions of familiar superheroes.

Sorry if I'm interrupting, but I HAD TO make clear that Mike Turner's Fathom is teh roXXorz! XD
I started reading the 1st volume this week and it rocks!
Well, I know I'm a bit late(actually very late XD ), but I had no free time when it was first published.
Now I also started buying the new Dawn of War and Cannon Hawke series and they're kewl, too!![]()
I need some help with something that I've recently discovered. Yesterday, I was looking at some old issues of Wolverine, and I've noticed that I haven't seen the end of the storyline from issues 107-109. Can anyone tell me what happened with Amiko later? <_<
Is that the storyline where it seems like she gets brainwashed. and that guys gives her the knife, cause I don't think they ever really wrapped that one up.
Sorry to interrupt, but I have to say that Invincible is an incredible series. Same thing goes for Concrete.
In addition, Top 10: The Forty Niners is just as good if not better than the original series.
Sig by BK
Yeah, that's the one. I mean, there were other storylines involving Amiko later on, but we never even got a smallest hint about whether she remained brainwashed or not. Also, there's this issue in which Wolverine and Cable fight Arnim Zola and his genetic experiments, and Zola eventually runs away. In the last panel we see Zola doing his little world domination speech and in one moment points into a part of the room in which lies a kidnapped Viper. The thing is, we see Viper back in her seat as the leader of Madripoor underworld about 20 issues later. Could it be that this story was resolved in some annual or something, 'cause I really don't remember seeing the end of it anywhere else.Originally Posted by madgophermm5
Marvel Comics have a tendency to have a lot of unresolved polt threads. I guess it is due to the different writer's coming and going. Ah well... I didn't think those story arcs were that great anyway.Originally Posted by Green Hair
Me neither. Overall, in my opinion, Wolverine was pretty badly used as a character in his own series. I mean, first ten issues written by Chris Claremont were great, he basically shaped all the elements that make Wolverine such a great character. But other writers weren't that good, they weren't able to make him evolve. Larry Hama wrote the title for a very long time and he had some good moments, but the rest was just flashy fights and a few plot twists. In my opinion, the only one that wrote a good Wolvie story in a very long time was Warren Ellis. His "Not dead yet" storyline with the assasin McLeish and Logan's Hong-Kong past was really something new and fresh, and Yu's pencils never looked so good, not even in the later issues or when he went on to draw X-Men. Then Claremont came back (and I was really looking forward to that), and his marrying Logan and Viper had some very big potential, but then came the Hand and Hydra and Sabretooth and it went to be a huge disapointment. Then a bunch of writers exchanged who didn't do much of a job either. Except for Frank Tieri. His Law of the Jungle storyline was incredible, the whole thing, the introduction, the gangster movie references, Wolverine killing the Sopranos, Sean Chen's art, everything fitted into it's place. And then Greg Rucka took over and continued and evolved the part where Tieri ended. He probably wrote some of the best Wolverine stories ever. Wolvie never looked that damn good.Originally Posted by madgophermm5
There is a number of other Marvel characters that still haven't lived up to their potential (Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight...), but who knows, maybe they'll one day have the same treatment that Rucka gave to Wolverine (that is, if Marvel would hire better writers and give them more freedom).
Wow.. I loved that Law of the Jungle story arc. It actually got me paying attention to Wolverine which was something I hadn't done since like issue 150. It is cool to find someone else who liked it too. I however did not really like the stuff after. It wasn't really the writing so much as the art. The guy who took over made Logan look like a midget troll. I was sooo Psyched when Millar and Romita took that over. They had a really decent run. Maybe I am just biased though cause I love Romita's work.
Oh and as for Ghost Rider, two words my friend Garth Ennis!!! If that wasn't enough for you it is all digitally painted and it is out this week.
Damn, I can't wait. Ennis is gonna make him look so friggin good. =) As for the guy drawing Wolverine, he was replaced at the Coyote Crossing storyline.Originally Posted by madgophermm5
Btw, I've seen news that McFarlane will be reprinting Spawn again, and it won't be those old five-issue trades, but rather new with ten issues each in both SC and HC, starting in october. This'll be totally sweet.

Ignore the year sign. It's an error.
Hey Green Hair and madgophermm5, I got this from a lot of comic websites: if you were on a desert island and you could only bring five series (you probably have all the food and necessities =) ) what would they be? I'll post my list later once I figure it out.
P.S. Has anyone read Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers? How is it?
Sig by BK
Hmm that is a good question.
I would say
1. Young Avengers (this is an easy one cause it is always good. I like a book that is consistent)
2. New Avengers ( I am really digging this book, it is fresh)
3. Ultimates (Best read every month. It is so topical and always leaves me anxious for the next issue)
4. Astonishing Xmen (Joss Whedon really gets what makes Xmen great, it is like the old day's when Claremont was writing...yeah I know he is writing these day's, but it isn't as good)
5.this last one is really tough, cause there are a bunch of really good series out there that I enjoy but take for granted, I will say Ultimate Xmen, because Singer is going to be writing it in December and I don't remember the Artist's name but he is really awesome. I am really looking forward to what that team is going to do.
Hmm... That's a tough question.Originally Posted by Akumashogun

As for Seven Soldiers, read them, you can hardly make a mistake with Morrison's work.
Btw, these New Avengers seem very intriguing. These are the first three pages from issue 9.

A conspiracy involving Iron Man, Reed Richards, Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, Namor and Charles Xavier? This I gotta see.
Surprisingly I haven't read much of Grant Morrison's work. Though what I have read is pure gold. (Animal Man in particular)Originally Posted by Green Hair
So I think I've come up with my five. Here goes:
1) Usagi Yojimbo
2) Astro City
3) Invincible
4) Bone
5) Hellboy
By the way anyone else can list their top five if they want to.
P.S. Green Hair, have you read Walking Dead or Jack Staff yet?

I just read Batman- The Long Haloween...
beautiful. It is just plain awsome. No wonder why Nolan used it for BatmanBegins. Though Poison Ivy's hair irked me. But I kinda guessed the ending after we saw no body on New Years. Seriously after I read that, Two Face became my number 3 favorite villian, after Joker and Freeze(gotta love the tragic background origin)
I have to go pick up Year One. Though I still am looking for The Killing Joke. I will not rest untill I find that.

Gary "Iceman" Martin. RIP.
My 5 (and I know I'll miss something important)
1. Powers
2. Ultimates
3. Usagi Yojimbo
4. Hellboy
5. Girl Genius (though they took it to the web and are only printing trades now)
@Anime Master - I loved The Long Halloween. The art was just excellent and I love seeing so many great villains in one series. Year One is a must read. One of the best Batman series ever. Killing Joke is... rough stuff but a good read.
Not yet. The comic shop, at which I order my trades, has a shipment coming every 2-3 months. The next will be here in october. After that one arrives, I'll probably order Jack Staff, Walking Dead or Invincible.Originally Posted by Akumashogun

I liked what I read of Astonishing X-Men, and I don't even really like the X-Men. Cassaday's art is great, it makes me want to read Planetary even more.Originally Posted by madgophermm5

Recently got the Bone One VOlume Edition in the mail the other day. I'm nearly done with it and I'm loving it. Bone has always been one of my all time faves and reading the whole series nonstop is just awesome. Especially when I got it for $16!! (The retail price is 40).
Amazon.com rocks.
Also going to the comic shop this week to check out the New Avengers trade.
