Reknowned intellectual heavyweight Sarah Palin weighs in on the Egypt situation:

Sadly, this is probably the predominant rightwing position in the United States: "We don't actually know what's going on, but that's because Obama isn't telling us what is going on." Sure, there's the paranoia about Iran II: Egyptian Boogaloo, but a hefty chunk of them don't really know what is going on and blame the Obama Administration for it rather than their inability to see what is going on by checking local sources.

Fox is currently preoccupied with trying to figure out how to make fairly peaceful protestors like the Egyptians into Islam extremists who write "AMERIKA IZ BAD" on the side of tanks.

Actually, they're still trying to figure out where Egypt is on the map.

lollll at SMALL GOVUNMENT SELF RELIANCE conservatives whining about the white house not telling them what's going on when they should get off their asses and do what a bunch of teenagers and 20 somethings on a rubber pirate comic book message board have managed to do.

Slightly off topic: I am sad that I live in the same state that spawned Palin. If anyone would like to trade the population of New England for Alaska's give me a shout.

Also did anyone see the pic of the Egyptian taking a nap on a tanks tire treads? Glad to see people still have a sense of humor even in a time like this.

Our weather doesn't absolutely suck, our people are friendlier, there's less traffic, and it's less expensive.

I spend my summers in Vermont. Someday I hope to make it a more permanent situation. Its to bad because I do enjoy the outdoors activities Alaska provides.

Alcohol poisoning is a pretty inefficient way to commit suicide.

One other thing that strikes me about that rambling is the implication that Egyptian's future has already been decided and the American government is privy to that knowledge. The idea that the State Department might actually not know what is going to happen and prefers to let Egyptians work this out for themselves probably hasn't ever even occured to this woman.

    U.S.: Egypt's talks not broad enough http://goo.gl/fb/RoK4f

    Wael @Ghonim 's interview (English text) a must. http://bit.ly/gatvqq Credits: @RamyYaacoub @Sarahng @forsoothsayer @Jan25voices #Jan25

(Ghonim is the Google marketing executive who's been missing for days. Mona El Shazly is the interviewer.)

    Excerpts:

Wael Ghonim: This is the era where people who have good intentions are considered traitors. Do you know why? because people now believe that there’s bad at the core of everything! and that isn’t true! On the 25th, I personally saw...I was proud to be an Egyptian on the 25th! There were thousands of girls and not a single case of sexual harassment! There was a simple man who just decided to pick up the garbage! there were stoplights that no one touched or destroyed! People would shout at anyone with a baton and ask him to drop it!
Mona El Shazly: (To camera) The truth is, that’s the first thing Wael asked me about. He asked, what are we going to do? There are honourable and famous people in this country, and maybe they think it’s not the right time to talk about this; as soon as they heard of the the idea of this mania, or that it was possible to contribute in some way, not to calm the situation or to flatter one party at the expense of another - they felt it to be their duty. Those people who died were our children and brothers, and they had no personal ambitions, and the photographs we showed earlier (shows photographs) say so…did you see these photographs, Wael?
Wael Ghonim: No, I haven’t seen a single one.
Mona El Shazly: They’re on the screen now. Youth like blossoms, blossoms in gardens. They are the ones who went down, they wanted nothing…don’t cry, Wael.
    Wael Ghonim: (Cries)
Mona El Shazly: These people didn’t want to head political parties, or people crushed by poverty and the world seemed bleak to them. They went out for the sake of Egypt, for the sake of the country and said what the generations before us couldn’t do, we can. We are not activists, or funded by anyone, we just want to say we love this country. If it wasn’t for my not being at liberty to state that names, or a specific name, have said directly that financial compensation, or in some other way, is present and ready. I can’t say anything more because I’m not at liberty to.
Wael Ghonim: I want to tell every mother and father that lost a son, I’m sorry but it’s not our fault (cries). I swear to God it’s not our fault! It’s the fault of everyone who held on to power and clung to it! (cries). I want to leave. (Gets up and goes off screen)

Wow. She sure knows how to go on and on without really saying much, huh?
And dude, haven't they heard of Internet? Ha. Don't have all that information yet... Damn I can't even imagine what kind of excuses this gal came up with when she didn't do her homework. "My, um, book was, um, not giving me, um, all the information you were asking for and, um, Milly wouldn't let me copy, um, hers. Uh."

If true this could be his most despicable act: Ex-Interior Minister el-Adli suspected behind Alexandria church bombing http://bit.ly/hLSUvz

Lots of foreign journalists checking out of Ramsis Hilton. The story, however, is far from over. #Jan25 #Egypt #Tahrir

-Aljazeera: A prisoner from Abu Zaabal prison: Security forces gave us weapons and cars and ordered us to go and attack the people, some of us did what they asked us to do and the others just ignored the orders and went home.

-Aljazeera: Omar Sulieman: Mubarak promised not to go after the demonstrators, and allowed them to express their feelings as much as they want.

-Omar Sulieman: A road map with a timeline for the peaceful transition of power.

-Mortada El-Shabrawi, a professor at Cairo University, tells Al Jazeera that professors will be marching today in support of the protests. They will march from their union in Doki, Giza, to Tahrir Square after noon prayers.

-Aljazeera: In recent days, the civilian blockades that check for identification cards and screen for weapons at the entryways to the square have been augmented by a celebratory greeting crew that welcomes visitors with chants of "Here, here, here! The Egyptians are here!"

-Mubarak has formed a panel to oversee constitutional amendments, vice president Omar Suleiman said on state television today:
"President Mubarak today signed a decree for the formation of the constitutional commission which will oversee constitutional amendments, and required legislative amendments."

CNN interviewed the Egyptians who took the video of the unarmed protestor being shot dead: http://edition.cnn.com/video/data/2....death.cnn.html

It shows the protestor approaching alone, arms waving in the air to show that he wasn't carrying anything. The women said that they saw the policeman raising his gun to take careful aim - right at the protestor's head.

    ===

#Tahrir protesters don't want material help from abroad. Would be picked up, exploited by state media. Say moral support matters most.

-Foreign reporters in Egypt without local credentials were not permitted by the military to enter Tahrir Square today. New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has just issued a statement accusing the military of detaining journalists and confiscating their equipment.

-They say that since January 30, there have been at least 140 direct attacks on journalists trying to cover the ongoing unrest in Egypt.

-Aljazeera: 100 of thousands of demonstrators in different cities in Response for what's been called "Egypt's Love Day".

Yeah we're expensive but uh......our weather is amazing lol. We have the perfect postcard four seasons, moderate but sweaty summer, moderate but cold winters, pink and green spring, and fall to die for. With normal weather patterns otherwise including no real dangerous weather.

You on the other hand are incredibly rainy all the time.

Also we're expensive because our location isn't a secluded armpit.
