YAY!
NAY!
I dont watch the anime anymore, I dont care.
I dont watch the anime anymore, but I DO care.
Ive heard it allows blood...
I've seen people saying that some channels allow blood for tv Y7 but where r u guys hearing this? Besides OLD Toonami I dont know any other channel that allows blood
Toonzai is a 4kids channel. THe idea of having One Piece back on a 4kids channel, even with funimation still owning it, is quite frankly terrifying
Because Funi won't be able to make minimal edits on toonzai. Case in point, the toonzai version of Kai was much more heavily censored than the one on nicktoons from what I've heard.
I have watched a couple of the Dragonball Z Kai episodes on nicktoons, and the edits were not that bad.
Like other people said: they would air it multiple times a day.
And it would add more young Onepiece fans.
People still believe The CW is the one who wants all the changes? Ha.
"The common man is the most powerful man. Long live the proletariat."
Well it's true. People, dbz kai was ALSO MADE BY FUNIMATION. Funimation is the one who makes the edits by toonzai's editing standards, correct. But:
1- Their editing standards are atrocious.
2- Regardless of Funimation making the edits, they're the ones who made those edits for dbz kai as well, it wasn't toonzai. So basically they're gonna do the same thing for OP.
So u can't say it's going to be different from DBZ kai because it's the exact same people's editing standards and the same people making the edits. I'm not blaming funi, I'm just saying they had to make those edits for toonzai.
4Kids demands the edits and FUNi does them. Networks hardly have anything to do with what needs to be censored and what not, it's pretty much all the FCC. For example, Saban edited down DBZ much further than the FCC or The WB thought was neccesary, just to be safe and not get shit from soccer moms. It's not crazy to assume that 4Kids is doing the same thing now, especially considering their track record.
"The common man is the most powerful man. Long live the proletariat."
Okay well what exactly would 4Kids demand from FUNimation that the FCC wouldn't necessarily? I mean its my understanding that 4Kids simply owns the timeslots on CW and they get advertising revenue from them, that they don't dictate the standards and practices. I mean that's weird to think 4Kids would want to edit their shows further than necessary. The only time 4Kids would edit their shows as far as I'n aware is to coincide with FCC standards or to make their shows more appealing to their target audience.
And "DBZ" was probably edited more than necessary to deal with the fact it was originally syndicated and thus they had to be aware of multiple channels. Plus they did the same thing of trying to Americanize the show.
i've Read up about 4kids ideals on anime quite a lot in the past 5 months or so every once in a while. They think that these massive edits are the only way to get anime into the united states, which is wrong. They're gonna probably do the exact same thing 4kids did. It will basically be the 4kids dub with funimation voice acting, the exact same edits and everything.
And plus funimation wouldn't want to give OP over to toonzai because funimation bought the rights to dub OP because they saw it as a great financial oppurtunity seeing how people were incredibly pissed at 4kids, and so people looked up to funi as if they were gods. For them it would be the worst choice economically to give One Piece back to 4kids because NO ONE WOULD LIKE funimation anymore if they did that, besides some of the people in this thread.
Not necessarily. If it's like "DBZ Kai" they'll just make the necessary edits to give it a TV-Y7 as per the standards of CW. So while we'll still probably get a hammer gun, we wouldn't get a replaced soundtrack, cut-out canon, and lame jokes.
I don't see why they wouldn't want to air it if 4Kids made the offer. Even if it's edited to hell, if it gets good exposure and good ratings for the property everybody wins. I don't see why people would start hating them, except perhaps a certain segment of the fanbase. There'd still be uncut DVDs, there'd still be a simulcast, so everyone would get what they want.
With that said I seriously doubt 4Kids would want to re-air "One Piece" even with the FUNimation dub. It failed for them before, it might be hard for them to want to try it again, although I'm sure they're aware by now why it failed when they dubbed it. But most of all "One Piece" would require a lot of edits to air on Toonzai. Even "TMNT" was censored from it's FOX airing when it went to the CW. 4Kids had stated they screen shows before they license them to make sure they'd fit within the broadcasting standards in place, and I don't think "One Piece" fits.
Not to sound like a dick, but all this whining about how editing a TV version will ruin One Piece is really petty. I thought we've grown up since 2008.
We've seen on Cartoon Network that most of the edits that will be made IF the series got back on the air would be smart ones. We've seen FUNimation is willing to go the extra mile to edited out the whole Cigarette for Sanji, and to just cut shots out instead of editing guns completely.
It doesn't effect the actual narrative 90% of the time. And its not like we've got uncut versions of the series on DVD and even on a free legal website. There's nothing forcing any of you guys to "suffer" through the edits. So I don't really see what the big deal is...
