Yeah, I agree that having a goal would probably make one piece even better as a manga. Goals are always a good motivator.

I think you're right. And I understand Oda, if this is the case. Once you reach your dream, there's not as much to keep you going as there was before. So giving mangaka titles or leves to progress within, Oda would have a new goal to reach and become more excited about the manga (not that he isn't working hard or doing a good job now, which I believe he is).

Why do you think there's been a noticeable spike in fanservice over the past few years? Clearly he's constantly horny and become insatiable, thus drawing risque stuff is his only reprieve. That's Toei's theory at least.

It's called self actualization, Oda isn't being arrogant, he deserves the title just as a senior manager deserves a better parking spot over the arrogant out of college manager that just got there and acts like he owns the place because he's a manager as well.

Oda has made other comments about other mangakanas before, I see no problem with this seriously, why the heck should someone deserve the same job as you do and not even try to make their series interesting? or just go on huge hiatus,etc.

I don't see anything wrong with this and I'm not nuthugging Oda by saying this and like some people said already it seems like he wants this as a way of motivation and self realisation.
