Thread: Mass Effect 3

  1. #101

    Default Re: Mass Effect 3

There needs to be more discussion going on in this thread. I can't be the only one who wants this game more than a fat kid wants cake. :V

    More tidbits (via BSN/dev Twitter):

    - The level cap will be Level 60 this time.
    - Combat banter has been reworked and is better
    - It is possible to romance ME2 LIs that you didn't romance back then
    - Engineers will be able to use drones and turrets at the same time
    - Scorpion heavy pistol will be great against large hulking targets
    - The Council choice will matter (lol, duh)
    - Squadmates will be able to do melee attacks as well as chain melee attacks
    - All species will return for ME3 (elcor, drell, hanar, ect)
    - Disagreements with squadmates will exist, some even leading to mortal conflict.
    - The question of how the first Reapers were created will be answered (<-- 'bout time!)
    - There won't be any loyalty missions for squadmates in ME3

And here's the earlier Q&A session at GamesCom:

Quick summary of the interview. Some of it is new info, and some is just more confirmation of stuff we already knew:

    - Robotic dog included in the CE ME3 preorder will follow you around on the Normandy. You'll be able to interact and do stuff with it, like play fetch.
    - You'll be able to recreate any of the potential default female Shepard looks presented in the contest via the character creator. There will be new hairstyles.
    - Each of the 6 classes will have a different take on the Omniblade.
    - There will be "satisfying conclusions" to character relationships/ character arcs. Will be a lot of backstory to what characters were doing in ME2/ME3.
    - Weapons bench will allow users to customize the look and features of various weapons
    - Will see more Yagh
    - Mining will be changed
    - There will be less of a focus will be on gaining the loyalty of individual characters, and more on gaining the loyalty of civilizations and resolving the plots that were outstanding.
    - A question was asked if you'll be able to "decide the fate of all your squad members, or will there be deaths that are inevitable?" Answer: "You may be able to prevent some; some things are inevitable."
    - Zaeed & Kasumi will be back, may not be squad members, will get a chance to talk to them.
    - You will not be able to marry Tali in ME3 (/eyeroll)
    - Less squadmates, but more squad banter and commentary
    - There will be specific missions present to develop the relationships between your squad members and LI
    - You'll have to have the Kintect to use voice command (won't be able to use a mic or whatever).
    - You'll be able to do a New Game+ in ME3

I think there's going to be another ME3 Q&A sometime later today as well.

Also, I guess you'll be able to add (more) facial hair to your Shep....?
    Hidden:

Hopefully that option will be available to MaleShep only~

Uh, my fem!Shep and her pixie cut are fine without any 5 o'clock shadow, thanks.

"Some things are inevitable." Goddammit, Bioware, if you kill my LI I swear . . . . .

    Spoiler:
Although I was guessing that Thane's death is inevitable, since there's no apparent cure and his whole story/relationship kinda revolved around that. Good thing he's not my LI! (I never liked romancing terminally ill charas)

Now maybe the butthurt will end amongst the people who complained about the non lesbian looking FemShep's not being used for the CE Cover.

    That's bullshit.

I put it off cause all the DLC hadn't been released for it now I'm just putting it off cause I can never find the time to play it.

That yahg was such a pain in the ass to fight, I might add. Not really looking forward to seeing more of them in ME3, since I suspect they'll be another enemy given their highly aggressive nature & so on. But that aside, LotSB is an excellent campaign with a great mix of story and gameplay, easily my favorite out of all the ME2 DLC. Overlord/Arrival were both pretty good as well, with the latter tying directly into the events of ME3. Definitely check em out when you have the time!

    Spoiler:
Thane was my LI through both my playthroughs, so I'm secretly hoping that the writers might throw us Thanemancers a bone & work the possibility of a cure in there somewhere. If not, then I hope we'll at least get to see him go out in a touching-yet-badass manner, not gasping in a bed somewhere. :(

Here's another Gamescom interview with Mike where he talks a bit about ME3. He confirms that there will be ME3 DLC and also discusses the possibility of multiplayer.

ALSO, there was a new ME3 Q&A with Mike Gamble this morning, which you can watch on Bioware TV. Video's called "Mass Effect 3 / DA2 Legacy Q&A LIVE."

Another quick summary of the interview:

    - There will "probably" no new female aliens revealed in ME3 outside of asari, quarians, and krogans.
    - Any mods from ME2 PC version will not transfer over to ME3.
    - Captain Kirrahe is back in ME3
    - Someone asked if Liara will keep her LotSB face or if she'll have the new face seen in the demo. MG stated that there's a reason she has that face.
    - Thane is alive in ME3 (<-- figured as much but YEEEAAAHHH)
    - Kelly Chambers is back
    - Exploration will be very important in the game, but Mako/Hammerhead might not be back
    - Normandy has been further modified by the Alliance
    - There will be a conclusion between the quarian and geth conflict
    - There will be optional sidequests, but all sidequests will tie into the main story
    - You'll still be able to pause the game during combat via pulling up power menu/weapon menu like in ME1 & 2
    - There will be new Soldier class powers
    - Saving the Rachni will effect how the game goes in ME3
    - Will be able to change squadmate appearance and armor
    - There will be no possibility of an alliance with with Cerberus in ME3
    - Bioware's already decided whether or not you'll be able to see Tali's face

    a mood come alive.

    *Looks at Yagh picture*
So uh, any word if they'll be turned into husks? I'm already fearing the Krogan and Rachni ones.
Also, I wish someone asked if this game will have another time limit in some parts, like how in ME2 you have to act immediately to save everyone after a certain event happens (and I wish I did, which is why I'm replaying as FemShep one last time).

This is a situation where I can see them being damned if they do and damned if they don't.

    - There will be a conclusion between the quarian and geth conflict
I tried to convince the Quarians not to go to war with the Geth and opted not to destroy the Geth that went rogue in Legion's loyalty mission really interested to see how this pans out.

    - There will be no possibility of an alliance with with Cerberus in ME3
Well considering they're more or less trying to kill Shepard this time around that makes sense, glad I didn't hand over the Collector base to them though I'm interested to know how that piece of evidence I obtained against them during a side-mission which I opted to keep will be used in this game.

Ohohohoho, if they DON'T show Tali's face (or the Quarians in general), there is going to be HELL to pay. Bioware's got a loyal fanbase, but I don't want to even imagine the shitstorm that'll happen if they don't deliver.

    Red works for me.

Also, some wonderful person summarized all the information gleaned at GamesCom if anyone hasn't checked it out yet: http://www.giantbomb.com/mass-effect...011/35-510677/

Of some particular interest to me was:
    Spoiler:

Indoctrination seem to play a role in ME3, possibly including party members.
    Oh. MY.

Also, one of the members of BSN was able to attend the EA community closed-lounge showing of ME3 hosted by Mike Gamble & David Silverman, and gave a summary of the Q&A there.
    Spoiler:

The child you see in the Vents during the Earth demo, Dies when his evac shuttle is shot down by a smaller reaper. and shepard gets a determined expression on his face as he watches the shuttle go down from the still open normandy cargo deck.

Shepard has his rank stripped at the start of ME3 because anderson re-instates him when he orders shepard to go and get help from the other races. (he throws his dog tags back to shepard)

Female Salarians and turians will make an apearance but they wouldnt comment about who they are or what their roles will be.

the problem with ME2 where shepard pulls out a gun during cutscenes that their class cant carry wont be comming back in ME3.

There is a Major choice in the game that can screw the end of the game over, and you will be asked 3 times if that is really what you want to do. just to make sure you pick what you want. (no info about what the choice is though)

There are multiple Choices in the game that will impact the ending of the game in a major way.

apearantly the skills you chose in ME1 and ME2 for yourself and your Squad will play a role ME3 (they were vague about this though)

there is a possibility to lose the war depending on the choices you make.

Making just paragon decisions will not garuantee a positive outcome for every situation and vice versa

there are going to be roughly 35.000 lines of dialoge on ME3 that is comparible to ME2.

Characters from the books will play a role in ME3 there is one who has a major role and we know its male...
(Mike gamble mis spoke when he was trying to tease about him :) )

there were some other questions asked but they are already awnsered in other Q&A's this past week that were already posted.

Also this is more of an assumption based on Comments by David silverman who was standing behind me during the presentation.
But apearantly Bioware has already planned out their DLC. When Mike Gamble was asked about DLC David was giving awnsers in a low voice to himself. (you know like you do when your not suposed to speak but you do know the awnser)

also when the normandy departs earth you get to hear new ME3 music
You can read the post here (5th post down): http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...dex/7649262/50

I think it's good that playing strictly Paragon is not always going to lead to the best outcomes in the story, though it kinda of makes me nervous to wonder what decisions are going to come back and bite me in the ass in my Paragon playthrough. (Sparing the Rachni queen & rewriting the Geth immediately springs to mind, but I guess we'll see.)

And we seem to be getting conflicting information about the appearance of female species, I wish they would just make up their mind lol.

Bioware confirms that ME3 is the end of Commander Shepard's story, but not the ME universe. (fine with me, I'd like to try new games with a new character. Maybe maybe an Origins version where you get to pick your race?)

    Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I'm fine with not playing completely Paragon, but now I'm gonna be biting my nails wondering what I should choose Paragon for and what I shouldn't.

But that's like real life, I suppose. You can't win everything just by being nice. It's like on the Krogan homeworld in ME2, if you're all nice and diplomatic the Krogan respect you less.

I still haven't played ME2 yet (which I heard was a lot more ambiguous) , so the only decisions I've made so far has been the typical "eat this baby or put him through college" scenario's.

My character's usually 100% Paragon, and 50-80% renegade, so that works for me, and about half(or at least a quarter) of my decisions have been renegade anyway.
