To be *positive*, I do agree with those who say that this chapter was not bad. Things are happening and this arc has more potential than I've seen in Bleach for a long time. However, I also agree with what Silverblade already said: that Kubo is going to use all this as a way to defend Mayuri's Quincy genocide, somehow. Hopefully I'll end up being pleasantly surprised.

Actually, I would say this arc is the best Bleach has been in ages. Compared to the fullbring arc's start which dragged, was boring as hell and focused on characters we didn't care about, this arc actually has stuff going on right from the start, and involves established characters we like.
To be sure it has some gaping holes already, like the unseen HM invasion, and the absolutely pointless escapades of Ivan, but for Bleach this isn't too bad. The dumbest thing was propably Sasakibes funeral, and the fact that Kubo tried to evoke emotions from it. Sasakibe was so unmemorable, so underutilized, so irrelevantly weak, so in the background that Kubo, In a kind of perverted brilliance, made that his backstory. "Sasakibe was a bland forgettable character, because that was his character!"


I'm a fan of Quinzis already, but hollowcaust...lawlz.

I'd personaly say the antics of the Vander-King (can't even remember if he got a name) are the worst part of this arc so far. Kubo once again tried to go for "OMG SHOCKMOMENT !" with practicaly everything he did, but it made absolutely no sense. Why kill someone who'se done exactly what you asked of them because they had the audacity to plan ahead for a military invasion ? Just because Hueco Mundo is a gigantic wasteland full of nothing doesn't mean Soul Society is, and they have a pretty big army as it is.

Also why Sasakibe needed to be killed off when he was shown to still be alive after the attack on Yamamoto is beyond me. You could have actualy used him in the arc, as well as made him the source of BS exposition for the Gotei 13's needs.

I feel like people just pop and become relevant for a few chapters and then fade into obscurity for another twenty to fifty chapters again

like you would think Chad, Orihime, Rukia or Renji, but really most of them receive only screentime every few volumes
