In answer to your above question, that thought actualy supposes Kubo remembers what a Soukyouku is. Bleach is actualy realy fascinating, because things and concepts previously seen, even the most basic concepts like main characters' power origins (for fucking FUCKS sake, how in the name of god do you write a different origin for someone four times and never notice ? I mean seriously, what the fuck ? I still can't grasp the level of amateurism that has to be present for something like this to even happen, and it's even more baffling to me that no one, NO ONE in the Jump staff noticed this at all) can be retroactively changed to something completely different on numerous ocations and no one ever notices it. It's like you're seing the results of one big temporal anomaly play out.
Soul Society is a great heaven--one that you can leave and return to the world of the living countless times. You can even travel to the human world in a gigai anyway. It's just that they're all so rock stupid they haven't thought of it yet.
There's probably some sort of line for reincarnation or else the world would be clustered. And God knows how long you have to wait for you to be reborn in the world of the living, and you get to lose your memories too as a bonus.
I'm sure he musta had in mind for a very long time before this what his bankai would be like....
And its not like we've actually seen any rediculous bankais that are overpowered....
And if this imbalance would be due to too many souls being liberated at once after the Esapada died, then I guess you might explain why SS never went into Hueco Mundo, but I doubt this explanation is actualy going to be the one we'll end up with, if any at all.
So Soul Society just killed nearly thirty thousand of their own peasants to "keep the natural order".
And they're the good guys here.
Maybe there are just some subtleties in the story that we simpletons just don't get?
It's not "to keep the natural order of things" in the sense of keeping the status quo of Soul Society. It's "keeping the natural order of things" in the sense of preventing the apocalypse.
They lose all of their memories and whatnot, so as far as the individual is concerned they are as good as dead.
And I thought it was just the Shingami or those with high spiritual power could reincarnate to begin with. Everyone else just goes into the ether.

Why did Kira even need to do detective work? At least three of the vice-captains (Renji, Rukia, and Yachiru) there came from districts beyond number 50 (and why didn't they say anything about it). Lord knows how many other shinigami do as well.
And why does Mayuri know about something that happened a thousand years ago? Unless Kubo screwed over his timeline. Again.
It's funny that Kubo's actually acknowledging SS is a shithole, though.
