Trying something differnet is sure cool, but with that comedic approach..it was just not fitting into this concept for my taste.
(But Germany is there not any better..with "Gildo hat euch lieb" and "Wadde hadde dude da", we were also testing good taste to the borders)

I can't say I like Lena. And I was fuckin ashamed when she won last year with her fuckin bad english :/ I think even I can pronounce better than her. I mean, come on.

When I heard she would start this year I was just like "... yeah. This will do good." I wouldn't wonder at all when every country goe slike "pfft, Germany has not enough good singers so they just go with the old one. LAAAAAAAAAAAME"

Other than that, I'm not really interested in this whole thing and I can't really take it seriously.
I mean it's good this exists, but the actual process and the actual singers who go there... is just.. meh.

I didn't like Lena last year at all, but at least she was still miles ahead of the Netherlands' embarrassing choice of song last year. Not too crazy of Lena's song this year either.
Haven't seen much of the other songs yet, though.

I'm hoping our guys do better this year... their song seems nice and not cheesy for once, even though we haven't gotten past the semi-finals for 6 years in a row. I'd love to see us advance with a normal song for once.

Although I did like Lena's song, the actual perfomance was really not as good as it could have been.

I haven't really heard any of this year's songs yet but I am about to remedy that by watching the 2nd semifinals.

We grow up as Americans being indoctrinated into a depressive state of mind where we must face the fact that Europe is more cultured and sophisticated than us. And that we're blunt tacky boors.

And then one day, in some form or another. We learn how this is all a lie. Sometimes in the form of an overseas techno hit sung in pidgin english by gay Italians. Sometimes in the form of realizing Robbie Williams is considered cool over there. Sometimes in the form of our first time actually watching a French art film and realizing it's basically softcore porn with tedious arguments and bad comedy.

We do trash better, you do art better (except for the French, they produce pretentious meaningless garbage and really awful romance (Italian and Swedish art films rule like hell though)).

But when done wrong which is more horrifying? Truly it's the trash.
Point of comparison. Van Halen and Def Leppard are virtually the same band.
Except one if American and one is British.
Van Halen is a ton of over the top fun and hard rock theater that's lowbrow and knows it, and loves it.
Def Leppard is crap.
