Personally I do base my votes on whether a char deserves it more. Well. Kinda. For me voting goes like this:

1. Do I like them?
2. Which of them has been more relevant to the plot?
3. Campaigns/If people ask me to.
4. Flip a Coin

But maybe thats just me. Usually 2 can be over-ruled by 3 depending on how good the campaign is (Makino for example) Or if I really like both chars I can flip a coin for them. (maybe do this in Luffy vs Usopp)

But I guess an entire tourney running off who deserves it more/who has done the most would be pointless. Luffy would win all the time. Then the rest of the crew, then Shanks, Ace, WB, Mihawk etc. No way would Beckman, Hattori, Makino etc be seen in the tourney at that rate.

I'm not sure how many new people join each year but for me the tournament was the final reason to register for AP. It's just a real fun event with a lot of wonderful campaigns. I can understand that some campaigns will loose it's novelty to the older members and also that some characters don't develop much in a year but that doesn't mean you can't have fun supporting them. We had some really exciting matches so far, so I'm looking forward to the rest of it and also to the tournament next year.
