Thread: Asura's Wrath: THE EPITOME OF MANLINESS!

I wanna like this one. Gave me a godhand vibe for a moment.

But this game wishes it was godhand.

The QTEs are pretty and intense, but the base gameplay lacks technique and depth. It's as MasterKing said, you sit there and fill up your bar to activate the next QTE sequence... but from what I see it's usually from mashing a single button or type of attack.

All the while, your character goes "RAAHHHH" "UGHHH" "UHHRAAAAAAAH" and the bad guy goes "REEEEEEEEEEHHHH!!!!!" "WHAAAAAAA!" Then Asura gets beat down and goes "URRRRGGGRAAAAH!!!" then he makes a mean face and yells again and gets the upper hand all while going "GRRRAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"
I'm not gonna lie.... it get's fucking annoying.

If Asura's wrath wants to achieve enlightenment, im hoping it has a LOT more going on in terms of gameplay. As epic as it was, that bossbattle didn't really impress me. It's cool seeing QTE being pushed to the extreme, it's intense, but I wanna feel like a god too.

There will never be another brawler and action game with the sophistication and customizable complexity of God Hand, will there?

    Sniff.... probably never.

A game that didn't take itself too seriously and let the player focus on a deep, customizable, and satisfying combat system that rewarded skill with challenge.

And let you beat up douchbag power ranger midgets!

Wow, he sounded completely thrilled to be making that game.

Only sad thing is..: Instead of making DMC great again they gave it to Ninja Theory

I don't care how much you may be looking forward to this, or that it is a new IP. Don't buy new from Capcom, not anymore. Either buy used, or don't buy at all.

I was curious about this game when I saw the debut trailer, but the actual gameplay seems kind of "eh" to me. The fact that the product manager was almost falling asleep during the commentary didn't help, either. Disappointing.

Indeed. I almost never buy new for a game unless it's something I'm too eager to wait for. I somehow don't think AW is going to fall into that category, to be honest.

    ah, Capcom....

    Aren't they just publishing?

The overall gameplay looks good to me, though I don't know whether to blame poor gameplay trailers or the actual gameplay for making look subpar. Also that video above is hilarious, dude mumbles through the whole thing, it's like they didn't do a mic check or give the guy a 5-hour drink.

No seriously... if they wanted to make a movie... why not just make one?

Random use of Dvorak - Symphony No. 9 "From the New World".

This one is weird for me. It's like... there's gotta be some kind of hook for me. Some sweet game goodness hidden behind everything they are choosing to show us.

    Or not?

Whoa. Hearing Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" brought back memories of Luffy vs Crocodile.
Not only that but they're also on the moon (Enel)
    And his sword extends (Ohm)

I'm still not sure about the trailer, though.

The game is largely a movie, and when you actually get to control the character and fight the gameplay looks SUPER bland and repetitive.

In my opinion the gameplay looks 5 times better than it used to.

    It has potential.

Let's see if they can give us a healthy variety of moves and specials he can do... combine that with maybe a little more involving quicktime sequences (a gaming feature that, to this day, i've not seen used to it's fullest potential.)... also hoping that the hit detection and blocking is more precise than just a slugfest..

What i'm trying to say is I want the game to have technique. I wanna be able to dodge, block, and parry shit. Not just take every attack.

Maybe then we might be in business.
