I heard the full movie has about an hour of cut out material. I'm so buying the director's cut of this DVD!!!
Extended director's cuts aren't always better. Yes there's often a scene or two that, once they're back in make you go "Oh yeh, that belonged there, that fleshes the entire sequence out better", but there's also often stuff that drags down the pace badly and had every reason to be cut, or its just a random subplot that went nowhere. Deleted scenes are often pretty bad, and you can see why they were deleted.
Its actually a little worrisome when you hear there's an entire extra hour of material. If it was the first thing cut, rather than this moment or that moment, then... there's probably a reason. Editing down usually makes something stronger, not weaker.
Most of that will be 10 seconds here, 20 seconds there, a line of dialogue that was unneeded over here... its not like its going to be full blown 5 or 10 minute character or action sequences that were lost.
I can see there being some more explanations, character moments, action bits, but... an hour is a LOT to add to a 2 hour movie.

Well there's this
I think in this case, what got cut out was a bunch of character building moments that were great but affected the pacing. I thought the movie flew by pretty quickly so the more fun character interactions and witty banter the better. I've seen the movie twice (and will probably have watched it more times by the time the DVD comes out) so having something new even if it weakens the movie a little would be nice. It's still great to own such a DVD just for the tons of extra stuff like director commentary and whatnot. Do such DVDs come with both edited and uncut versions or just the uncut? Because then it would definitely be a worthy purchase.
Usually the theatrical and directors cuts are sold seperately... (and the director's cut comes months or even a year later) with different commentaries and bonus features. Totally double dipping to make you buy it twice. Except when its only like five minutes of additional footage.
Unless its Blade Runner and packaged with 28 different versions anyway.
Oh boo. Welp, gonna have to buy them both then!!!
The movie was more like X-men but not as bad as the x-men movies however the first x-men movie was ok it was just the later ones that sucked lol
Movie was dope as fuck. It's honestly been a while since i've seen a REALLY good super hero movie. RDJ's Iron Man is sooo on point. And I really can't find any strong dislikes with the film. All exposition is taken care of... no origin movie bullshit that bogs down many comic movies (imo), we know these characters and now they're interacting with each other and kicking ass.
That was definitely THE BEST and most enjoyable movie I have ever watched, for me at least, since I don't watch that many movies. But dayum, that final act has got to be the most epic battle ever in a movie, way better than Bayformers. Hopefully this movie beats Avatar for the box office performance.
I'm back. I haven't enjoyed a movie at theaters like that since Dark Knight. It was an excellent movie. The pacing and the character introductions at the beginning were a tad bit slow, but everything... wait lemmie spoiler tag rest as I go along
