One Piece: Musou/Pirate Warriors - PS3

No news yet. Koei is currently in the midst of promoting Dynasty Warriors NEXT for the Vita, and Ninja Giaden 3 (neither of which have official release dates) they aren't likely to even begin promotion on OP until after those are released. It was only just ANNOUNCED at a recent gaming show, there's usually 1-2 years of production after initial convention teaser demo before the final product comes out.

There isn't even a starting roster of characters announced yet, the odds of a spring release, even in Japan, are unlikely. Early summer-late fall is a much more likely bet, that would follow the traditional Koei release schedule more closely. (They generally lead up to release with about 5 months of magazine ads that reveal a character or two at a time)

And if it is to get a stateside release, it won't be for another 5 or 6 months after the Japanese release.

So even if it came out in Japan this March, we wouldn't be getting it stateside until October, if at all. Don't expect it before late 2012.

Please don't bump this thread *asking* for news, that just gets people excited needlessly. When there IS news, this forum will be one of the first places to jump on it and announce it.

I don't like doing that because if I'm not around, it stems the information flow for potentially quite a while, and because usually after being asked nicely, folks are good about it. Other threads get by just fine with months of waiting on news, and we probably are about due for some news of some sort.

Tho this thread has already proved strange in a couple ways. It was posted in the general one piece thread AND the games thread, repeatedly (this version and location is like 5 different threads merged) because people don't know what to do with it.

Anyway. I'll lock it if it if it becomes a problem.

Because when the game was first announced people kept making threads for it in the game section for whatever reason. By the third time I got tired of merging or deleting them.

Like I keep saying.. If it follows the practice Koei does with ALL of their games... now that there's an official release date, from here on up through March, they'll have ads in magazines, and each one will reveal two or three new characters.

Given that they're starting with only three confirmed characters however, its safe to assume the roster is going to be really small... as expected. A reveal of 2 or 3 characters per ad in January, February and March would be six to nine more... as expected.

So, enough to cover the strawhats and Ace, (and possibly Jinbe?) theoretically. If they're as diverse as the fighters in Sengoku Basara, a roster of 10 will be great. If they're as diverse as Dynasty Warriors 3 or Gundam 3 or Samurai Warriors... that'll be reasonable, if a bit underwhelming. If they're as diverse as the fighters in Dynasty Warriors 7, it'll be incredibly lame.

Second game will be the one that piles on the characters and gives it a reasonable roster in any event.

if they got the japan dub + english sub i would gladly pay twice as much.

i prefer straw hats only with their moves diversified rather than 30 chars with similar moves with only different skins.

i still dont get it why they still hesitate and think that one piece might not have enough consumers in the american market while they seem to be in a great confidence to make the english version of naruto games.
i bet one piece has more fans than naruto in america and worldwide.

0% chance of a PAL release at launch. There will not be an English translation on March 1.

Because the anime tanked in ratings and previous games have sold poorly. It hasn't been on television for several years now or proven to have a huge fanbase.

4Kids mismanagement of the property can be attributed a lot of blame, even now years later.

There is no scan yet. It was just in the latest issue of Jump that has now leaked, so early sources have passed the information on. It'll probably end up in the back of the scanlations for this week's chapter.
