If you were going to import anyway, most likely nothing. The only possible drawback could be not being compatable with DLC from the Japanese PSN store. That usually isn't the case, but sometimes is. Oh, and the instruction book in the game case will be in Chinese rather than Japanese.

Brook, Ace & Whitebeard being in don't suprise me at all. Hancock did. I knew there would be at least a token playable Shichibukai, but I was expecting Jinbe or Crocodile. Still, if the roster is as I suspect to be 15/16 characters, I am expecting still Akainu, Blackbeard & Smoker.

A cast of all nine Straw Hats, a Admiral, a Yonkou & a Shichibukai, among others. And as the game is quite similar to Hokuto Musou, whether they have smaller story modes or what if modes, this will also allow us to play heroic Marines and Pirates (Smoker & Ace) and villainous ones (Akainu and Blackbeard). I might be wrong, though,

Since Whitebeard is playable, that most likely means that Akainu will be WB's personal boss.

YES! I'm even more excited right now.

If only they'd add a bonus level of Hu Lao Gate One Piece Style. "Aah! It's Whitebeard! Run!" Luffy=Zhang Liao ^^
I like the look of this game - and so, so, so, hope for it to be released in the UK. Loved Dynasty Warriors - one of my all-time favourite series. Didn't buy 6 due to the lack of Jiang Wei.
I don't understand why so many say 'there'll only be a few characters" - please could someone explain why this will/could be?

Personally the way I think they're doing it is they're showing non bosses as playables. I don't think it's an indication that the bosses won't be playable. Croc, Buggy and Bon could possibly be playables in the Impel Down arc.

Personally the only two allied chars I could see being added now is Jinbe and Ivankov.

Why shouldn't boss characters be playable? I mean, if they bother to develop a character as a boss, with many attacks and moves and so on, why not put them in the VS-Mode as well? It's not that complicated, right?
So it doesn't make sense to me, that they are only bosses and not playable.

First there is no VS mode so far and second i already said i hope the bosses will be at least playable in a hopefully soon announced VS mode. If there is no VS mode then the bosses probably won't be playable for the same reason why other games only have a few characters playable and the rest are unplayable. Like you can't play through Sonic Generations as Shadow, Silver and Metal Sonic even tough they are bosses in the game.

As I have literally just posted, sometimes yes sometimes no. I just keep reading the same posts reworded and it's not contributing anything to this topic that's all. I wonder what Whitebeard's moves will do to the playing field, maybe it'll fire bits of shattered rock up at enemies or just send them flying back. Cannot wait for my preorder to be filled out.

I swear to god I'm typing to myself. Sonic Generations has no barings on a Musou game, sorry to say... In all of the Musou games there has been Bosses playable. This game looks to be innovating the Musou engine further, so hopefully we will see bosses.

Can we close that book now and fix the broken record?

i cant think of anything but DLC. if this game got plenty of DLC, you might be in a problem because usually the DLC is region lock which means that you have to have the PSN ID from that region.

the only reason i consider for buying the asian version is because the english dub. i watched all the anime and movies so their japan voice is already set in my mind. if i hear them talk in english it sounds just wrong.

again, its better if they got the jpn dub DLC for the US/EU/AU version of the game, if they plan to make it worldwide.

At this point pretty sure it's just Europe and Japan. It's been confirmed by several sources, we'll see though.

AFAIK the chinese one is jpn-eng, i dunno about the korean one. many of my friends who like the jpn-eng version of a game (like FFXIII for example), usually order the chinese version of it.
So there's a version with Japanese dub and English subtitles? Where could I get it? I can't wait for the European version!

Well, usually most Musous have a handful of characters for the first game. For example, the first Samurai Warriors game had about 15 characters where as Samurai Warriors 3 now has about 37 or so. Also, in the first game, characters like Ieyasu Tokugawa and Hideyoshi Hashiba/Toyotomi had their own unique models, and by the Xtreme Legends and the direct sequel, were playable.

So, I'd imagine we would get the same amount, then in the sequel (Because you know there will be at least one), there will be more characters, like Buggy might now be playable then, and they'll expand a bit more. Like, in SW1, there was no mention of the Western Warlords of Kyushu, then in SW2, there was with the introduction of Yoshihiro Shimazu and Ginchiyo Tachibana. So, in the sequel, arcs that might not get in like Skypedia or Thriller Bark will then be in and so will characters like Enel and Gekko Moriah.

Pure development time. First outings of Musou games (and anime tie in fighting games in general) usually have only 10-15 characters, then add about a dozen per game and get up to a reasonable count by the third outing.

Which is fine, better to have 10 unique and diverse characters than 60 identical characters like in the Dragonball or Naruto games who all play exactly the same. And it gives them room to grow.

Say Robby, I wanted to ask you this. I know they seem to be only for Dynasty and Samurai, but if this games sells really well, do you think there's a chance for an Xtreme Legends-style game?

Interesting stuff (though not particularly surprising) about the power-up system in that latest scan.

Beating stages and getting good scores (you can see the "S" ranks for enemies defeated, damage taken, highest combo etc) will raise your character's bounty and level them up (I'm assuming the bounty is basically just EXP). Meanwhile there seems to be another system around "treasure coins" that are dropped by enemies and also received for beating the game. Those coins can be equipped on characters to raise their attributes and equipping three of them will give you new skills or something. It's pretty basic information and doesn't tell you a whole lot about how it's actually implemented into the game but there's always some form of RPG character advancement in these games.

Guess I'll need some of this game translating after all. Crap.

EDIT: Anything more ellaborate about the tag mechanic used in PV2 at Enies Lobby?
