Thread: One Piece Opening 15: "We go!" by Hiroshi Kitadani

I appreciate MidiGuy's fandubs a lot. But just because someone is good a singing doesn't mean that they are perfect for every song. I'm sure one reason his "We Go!" sounds off to us is because we're so used to hearing either Hiroshi Kitadani or Vic Mignogna with "We Are!", so someone else at the helm would throw one off. He is at the top of the league though, I haven't heard anyone put as much effort into fandubs than him.

I'd say "Fight Together" is my favorite one ^^

Here's a translation for the short version of Fanfare. Can't wait to see what you can do with it!

It's too late to mourn now
    Wave goodbye to yesterday
Now is the time to embark
    Raise the deep-sunken anchor
Congratulations! Our hearts beat fast to the fanfare!
The confetti dances in the boundless gradation of our memory.
Wandering in an aimless journey, we lose our resolution.
The end of a voyage that nobody knows.
You ask me to wait and ask for my destination.
But the answer is always in the wind.
One day we'll grow up through our carelessness and seriousness.
Let's search for the lost treasure.

It's too late to mourn now

Now is the time to embark...
    Raise the deep-sunken anchor!
You ask me to wait and ask for my destination.
Has the answer always been in the wind?
    Surely, today, in your eyes
A new me is embarking on an endless journey.
One day we'll grow up... to be shrewd adults...
Let's search for the lost treasure!

Thanks, I have one and would use it, but the way I do these, (I draw each frame in little boxes, around 8-10 per page,) it's just easier and faster to use my camera, especially the scenes that require paper cutouts. Though recently I've set it to where the frames come out brighter, and with more consistent brightness and coloring.

Here's another preview, I've been at this for 3 weeks now:

Most scenes are missing colors, transitions, effects, objects and characters, those are some of the last things that'll be added.

All I can find on YT is the full version, so for a lot of that, I can't be sure which parts go where. But here's what I came up with so far:

There’s no more time to mourn for the past,
We need to send it off on its way,
Now is the time to be sailing at last,
Pull up the anchor and we'll start out today…

Congratulations! The fanfare in our hearts is ringing out loud~!
And the gradation of our memories flow so deep and true and proud~!
We can’t decide on where we’re headed,
Might take the wind out of our sails,
    Nobody knows,
But still, we’ve got somewhere to go…

Okay, I think I've got something workable here. If anyone can give me the full song's translation, I'd really love to finish it:

    Fanfare (English Short Ver.)

It’s far too late to mourn for the past,
The time has come to cast it away,
We’re sailing off on our voyage at last,
Pull up the anchor and we'll start out today…

Congratulations! The fanfare in our hearts is ringing out loud~!
And the gradation of our memories flow so deep and true and proud~!
We can’t decide on where we’re headed,
Might take the wind out of our sails,
    Nobody knows,
But still, we’ve got somewhere to go…

There’s no time for this weak hesitation!
Set a course for our new destination!
No matter where it is, we’re gonna ride…
To where the wind guides us!

They might see us as crazy and helpless,
Soon we’ll show them our dreams are not hopeless,
Somewhere out there lies what has inspired…
    Our true desire!

It’s far too late to mourn for the past,
The time has come to cast it away,
We’re sailing off on our voyage at last,
Pull up the anchor and we'll start out today…

There’s no time for this weak hesitation!
But can we choose our own destination,
Or has the wind decided where we’ll go

    Right from the beginning?

Can’t you see how our dreams are unfolding?
At this moment, the world is beholding
The dawning of our legacy unfurled…!

We’re no longer the people we once were,
As we head for our endless adventure!
We’ll become the ones who can inspire…
    That true desire!

Great job as always Shift, but I believe a couple lines are missing actually.

    (5:28)

    Surely, today, in your eyes

A new me is embarking on an endless journey.

Ah, yes, I did wonder whether that extra line sung was included in the translation. I edited in a new section above.

Ok, now it's perfect! I wish there was a full version available but unfortunately the only translation I can find is a horrible one on the Wiki page.

Finished this a few days ago but of all places I forgot to post it here:

Completed to the bast of my ability, though to be honest I could've given this an extra week, I was just starting to go crazy working on it day after day. Probably the last one of these I'll do for awhile.

AMAZING job on the video Electrivire! I'm jealous, you should do your own anime LOL. Great job and I hope if you get the time you do more.

I've recently combined Midiguy's Fandub with my animation:

    I
even added in the Funimation OP logo similar to how Funi would probably do it in the official dub as a way of saying that his fandub is as good as an official Funi dub.

Also, as a side note, I think this dude is awesome:

Unfortunately for us when this actually does get dubbed FUNimation will probably cut to a random shot of the Sunny and place their logo over that instead.
