uh. goodness. I remember reading greg rant about being cold in winter. I get cold easily. I hate the cold. This is a big hesitation about me ever LIVING in japan. I feel for ya man. T_T I always like warming my feet with hot water. if my feet are cold, then I am cold.

I commented on the site, but in truth you could use a kotatsu in your livingroom. Sounds terrible, but i get it--my MIL's house is an old, drafty farmhouse type of house out in the Do-Inaka. Its at the base of a mountain famous for skiing (called Mizuho Highlands, in Shimane-ken), so I promise its freaking cold. I commiserate with your pain. Makes lots of Oden--it's so awesome in winter. Warms you up like nothing else. Maybe Mizutake would help heat the place up too, and if you cooked it at your kotatsu, you'd have it make. LOL.

Same here. I apparently have terrible circulation so my hands and feet are always the worst. Doesn't matter how many pairs of socks you put on if your feet are cold going in...

Yeah... got the kotatsu. But no blanket for it, and the internet cord doesn't reach it, which means I can't use the computer there, which means I never use the kotatsu... : (
We frequently have nabe parties though, over at my neighbor's house. We buy like $40 worth of veggies, chicken, sausage, tofu, noodles, and kimchi broth and sit around all day eating and sharing body heat. It's really lovely. But then at the end of the day I have to reluctantly retreat to my frozen castle...
I'm assuming I'll become the guy-who-hosts-parties once he leaves, because at that point I'll have his giant-screen TV (which is why everyone likes to go to his place).

Maybe you should buy 2-3 chicken who will live in your appartment.
When i remember correctly that was a way to warm a place in the middle age.
Also when it wouldn`t work somehow you still have some nice feathers for your bed and something to eat^^

Yeah. Not a lot of fun adventures lately. But here you go, I suppose.

Your writing talent is remarkable. No matter what you write or if it may seem uninteresting to you, the opposite happens when read by another person. I, for one, am yet again intrigued by your story and I'm *really* looking forward to the next one. Actually it's quite hard to be so patient but I can imagine that it isn't easy to write such long blog entries on a regular basis. The only thing I'd like to say is that you should keep up with this. Like I said- what may seem boring to you is exciting and vivid for your audience.

That being said; what happened to the girl who hit on you on the teacher's party? Did she contact you again after the one text message you mentioned?

I follow Meaphe on youtube, and it seems your 2 situations are simmilar. She said the 9th graders are never interested so don't let that bother you. The graduations are always morbid, and as she just posted today, she as well came to the party dressed in jeans and a sweater. I'm sure the Japanese are used to it by now. I think it was Greg that mentioned that the staff neglect to inform gaijin of these little facts that, duh, everyone knows.

Glad you can feel your digits again

Thank you for the praise. I definitely intend to keep at it as long as people are still interested.

That girl? Nah. No contact. I guess it was really just a drunken impulse, like she said. Easy come, easy go.

Well I guess it's good to know that I'm not alone in those feelings, then!

Post about getting a driver's license. This is literally about going to the DMV. How much more boring can I make it?

And yet you still managed to create an intriguing little story. Now I want to take that test just to see if I could pass lol

Great story. Again, had me laughing, and what a small world!!--I kid you not, but my husband's given name is Masatsugu. I understand its not all that common. I never heard of it as a family name before. I have to wonder if the two names are written with the same Kanji. I will, of course, be telling my husband all about how simple the written test is for foreigners. God, now I wish really badly that I could go get one, just cause he was so proud when he managed it, LOL!

Again, congratulations on gaining a Japanese driver's liscence. Don't forget that old cripples in the road are not meant to be driven over, and police officers instructions ought to be followed--we all know how easily you foreigners forget the most basic rules, for goodness sakes.

As always, sorry for not replying until now. Just a bit uncomfortable with double-posting.

Not to say that you wouldn't, but... I failed even with a whole bunch of tips and anecdotes from people with experience. Or did you mean the written test? I would be worried if you couldn't ;D

Hmm... I think it was actually this guy's first name as well. Last was probably Tanaka or Yamada, so of course the more unusual one was what I remembered.

*Sigh*... I want to visit Japan one day; a dream of mine, I guess you could say. Heck... I love the Japanese people, and I haven't even met many in my short (21 years of) life.

I'm so sorry it's been so long! Please don't hate me! You people are all I have... T_T

Anyway, this one is about my summer vacation on the surface, but ends up being mostly about food, for some reason.

Definitely make a point of visiting if you ever get the chance, but be sure to reserve judgment (even good judgment ;D) until you've really seen everything.
