I really liked that flashback.
Though i didn't really understand Luffy's move,is that an explosion or fire?
And what is this daidaros thing you are talking about?

One piece, where fire is created in the ocean. That aside though, awesome chapter I think I really felt the mood it was trying to give the viewer.
If Luffy truly punched a hole through him theres two possibilities I see happening
1. Hody actually dies from that and we get a glimpse of a new more violent and prepared for the New World-Luffy (Unlikely in my opinion, I believe Oda will keep his theme of Luffy defeating rather than killing)
2. Hody will be defeated and have lost lots of blood, and he would wake up to discover that after a series of events the Strawhats have donated their blood (preferably Luffy) to him. This could lead to other possibilities such as Hody being enraged and vowing to chase the strawhats making him a lesser rival of sorts in which I would see it being less tense (as in under certain situations he could help, ex. Crocodile in impel down) Or I would really like to see a friendlier relationship developed between the Strawhats and NFP which in my opinion would show the true strength of the strawhats in their ability to gain allies anywhere.
Wow, I kinda hope that's the end for Hodi cause that would make for a great climax to the fight! Better still, it was preceded by a nice flashback. I liked the look into Hodi's character. He's a pitiful bastard, but it's nice to see that how he came to be that way.
Eventually all Shonen will get the Dragonball Kai treatment. I'm currently awaiting the perfection that will be One Piece with no filler whatsoever.
I'm also awaiting Bleach Kai. It will be the greatest joke in anime when it's ends in under 50 episodes. It'll be a great laugh.
Thank gog his FB lasted half a chapter. The last panel was so epic. Does Zoro look injured ?
I would not mind if this arc ends now.
Btw, where is Caribou ?
Daidaros is the squid next to ikaros in page 7. He´s his best friend and was first (and till now only) time seen on chapter 630. He went dry for going too close to the sun and his loss turned Ikaros into a pyro-phobic
Dunno, ask the mermaid who is with her kid on this page

Hot damn, the chapter was actually far better than I had imagined - and I was already expecting a great chapter even with just the script. That was the flashback I've been waiting for, Oda. Marvelous.
Last page was jaw-dropping.

The squid-friend of Ikaros (dude with 8 arms) is Daidaros.
Like Ikarus and Dädalus in greek mythology.
To me it seemed like Luffy and Hody were already in the giant bubble shot at Noah by the soldiers.
That fire thing is either a haki-based-move like Marigold did (Boa sisters), or Luffy made an extra-hot G2-move.
I prefer the latter one tbh.
@Skadi
If u ask me, merfolk uses those "bubble rings" to travel in air just like in water (u know, like 3-dimensional, imagine a swimming-ring for the air-floating).
Maybe its easier for merfolk to travel in those bubble rings. I'd also prefer such kind of transportation device than using my foot (LAZY!!!).

The last chapter was perfect. And this chapter is icing and an already well made cake. Awesome!
The flashback was great. Not only it got into Hodi's blind hatred, but the blind hatred of the entire Fishman Distict. That KKK moment was pretty damned chilling and Arlong's speech was dead scary. I could really see why Hodi doesn't want to lose... I imagine how he wrote out Arlong as thier hero after his defeat by Luffy. Then we move on to Bro-Hoshi's plea. It could almost feel his words and the way Luffy responded was just heartwarming(and awesome). That's how to write a story! Bravo! Bravo!
Amazing chapter the best of the last 2 months.
It made you understand Hodi's motives and it made you feel the tension in fishman island.
Oda proves once again why One Piece is one of the best manga if not the best in existance.
I honestly didn't think of KKK when I saw those masks. They reminded me too strong of the guards in ID, but now I see the connection with the torchs and stuff.

True, we see what looks like spikes of torn flesh on Hody's back but it may be just a 'shockwave' type of effect and not actually punched through his body...though with Luffy's power that alone would cause great damage. I've looked and relooked at the back fo Hody's back and I do not see Luffy's fist comign through it. I see what looks like could be either torn flesh or (using previous Oda styles) a shockwave of the force of the punch to the stomach traveling through the body. I will withhold judgement on "did Luffy do an Akainu" until next chapter an Oda shows us more of what type of damage has been done.
I remember seeing Whiteebard's flashback at the end of war when he was younger with other crewmates that were same size as him. I thought then that maybe these larger than normal people were born same size as what we think as 'average-sized' and just kept growning. There is a paralel in real world, there is one type of Gigantism where the growth hormones don't stop; as kids they are normal sized but as their peers growth starts to slow down (mid/late teens for height is normal) they keep growing. I think that this could explain people like Shirley who are taller than a sibling and Whitebeard 3-4 times the height of average people, and even Shirohoshi a giantess born to an average sized mother (Oda said merfolk can interbreed with humans so I do not believe the "they came from laying eggs like fish do" theory).
True and then we don't see where the punch to the abdomen landed, if more to the side, then the damage is different than Axe's which was a direct center shot and Ace said his internal organs were burned away. Say if Jinbe got hit on the side, it may have burned away only one kidney instead of most of the organs.
liked the chapter ,I was thinking since it's color/colour of armaments or however you spell it what if different colours are different powers like the possible blue elephant gun is harden , then red hawk/hook is fire/explosions
the elephant gun hasn't been referred to as blue afaik. It looks as if the arm is jet black in both cases, the reason why it is called red hawk in this situation is partially for japanese naming reasons I don't understand and also because of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruger_Redhawk
elephant gun and snake shot are real things too.
