After reading bleach recently, and seeing Yama's awesome flame zanpakto, I got to say, Natsu's fire powers suck. The art itself is horrible.

Again brought up some good points. I especially agree that Mashima does not show us any of the relationship of the guild, I mean correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Natsu jsut pick fights with everyone at the guild ?? They don't really seem close at all, yet they are said to be very close. Kinda like Naruto and Sasuke. Kishi never showed their relationship as anything more than team mates/rivals, and then boom, 'You were like a brother to me Sasule'. Da f*ck.

Also can't recognise most of the people in the guild when they are having one of their parties. I keep thinking 'who the f*ck are these guys, and where did they pop out from'??

Hope you continue soon, the next part should be fun. The recent chapters were a great example of Mashima's storytelling skills.

To be fair, Masashi Kishimoto at least showed Naruto and Sasuke go through life risking moments and many other scenarios like two very close friends. He could have expanded a little more, but it was fine IMO since we got to see Naruto and Sasuke before the start of the story, and the many scenarios during the story.

You can see the difference. Natsus flames look pretty pathetic.

It's a different drawing style. You're comparing apples to oranges. Plus, Natsu's flames are magical flames, whereas Yamamoto's are spirit energy.

They are still flames, doesn't matter where they get the fuel from. Natsu's 'flames' don't look even remotely like how flames should look. And I never said the style had to be the same, just the way to draw them. And I just used bleach as an example, cuz it reminded me after readimg the chap. The point is , Mashima is not good at depicting fire, it does not look like fire at all.

Its not an argument, just pointing out that it could be depicted better. And I guess that black semen smeared over a page feels more like fire than this blob of jelly that Natsu produces. If you don't think its worth talking about, then why bother posting this??

He's kinda right though: effects in Bleach largely look like garbage.

Is it a slash? Is it a beam? Is it a lightning bolt? Is it a magic arrow? Who can tell? it's all shitty white streaks with a black outline!
Sometimes they're all lined up in a row, sometimes they really change things up and form a circle OH MAN slow down Kubo you're gonna hurt yourself being so creative.
Occasionally we'll get lucky and he'll spill an ink bottle over it and the zippy zowie kablowie will be all BLACK for a change.
But excepting the occasional fire or ice move none of them have any texture or depth and may as well be white out on the page.

Kubo's explosions and "flashy" attacks are all basically about as exciting as every character down to ChiaotzuRukia having a KamehamehaCero.
And frankly, even Kishimoto and Mashima do it better, imo. If we got some side-by-side comparisons of the special effects purely by look in here I know which of the three mangaka ain't winning.

The sad thing is that if Gajeel AND Natsu fought together to beat these two instead of just Natsu I feel the chapter would have been fine. But for some dumbass reason the author thought to have Natsu do it alone.

The whole friendship/feelings thing I have just ignored because its a given. Complaining about that is like complaining about Naruto making bad guys see the evil of their ways and trust in him. It's been the staple since the first chapter and basically every single battle, so not sure why its still bitched about. I guarantee the next (x) amount of fights in fairy tail where any fairy tail member wins it is heavily influenced through EMOTIONS. Get over it. You know its going to happen so quit bitching about it.

Feels like to me its been done roughly the same the whole series, so in that regards poorly since the start.

But whatever, I run into this enough in dealing with series that have fanservice/ecchi moments. Its still amazes me how every time Kenichi, Fairy Tail or other shows that show ecchi often and vast that people complain and seem surprised every single time it appears.

That I can understand, but it can be annoying when a person trying to defend Fairy Tail will use the "well it's been about friendship since day one", because it is flawed. People want the will power to be logical, to fire them up, not to give them some random crap attack at the last second that could've just used earlier in the fight by summoning the friendship. "Saying that's hat you should expect" is like saying "the story has had bad storytelling from day one" . some people didn't ever really think Fairy tail was bad before, some know it was bad like me, which is I dropped it about some 25-30 chapters ago (like some 5 1/2 months ago).

Illogical as it may be, let me give u my insight. First, I in the past complained about Kenichi's fanservice because while it does the same thing over and over, the author does something new and makes it seem more extreme.

I think Fairy Tail is the same. When's the last time Natsu boasted friendship while screwing over his friend, while also defeating two friends who were fighting for friendship of their cat? I think this is a good case of "worst so far." Though admittedly, I'm holding on cause I like both mentioned mangas, and I feel that if they get over this obvious flaw they can be much better.
